Funnily enough I have read the article several times,
which I don't usually do when it's from the Daily Mail
I ignored the headline because Dier
would not have used the expression 'the Dark Arts'
But the more I read it the more confused I become.

What is an intelligent edge?
Is it the same as 'cuter 'which he uses later?

'They win fouls in clever places'
New concept to me.What are these clever places, penalty area?

English players can be too honest and hard working
but we don't want to lose this English attitude.
Muddled to me.
Can you be too honest and hard working?

Anyway an enjoyable discussion without rancour
touching on important historical and future issues.
I pass the flame of Tottenham's reputation(image?)
to others more worthy.

Mackay as an intelligent, successful player and Manager
would have adapted to the conditions applying now I'm sure.
But truly times have changed for the better.
Modern rules protect the players more,
the pitches are flatter
and the balls are lighter water resistant and don't have laces.

It was football Jim but not as we know it.
