One poster here said he was injured.Nobody else has backed that up.Someone on twitter said he was ill again not backed up.Well known spurs journo said no injury was tactical.
With Sanchez we are
WDL 7-2-0
Without 1-1-3
Enough said.

Amazing we staved off relegation last season, such is the level of dependence.

Before the mistake I think Dier was having a good game. And it wasn't just his mistake anyway. It was very unfortunate that our 3cb's all switched off and made an error in the same phase of play.

None of the three centre backs were without fault for that goal. Seems only one is being blamed though.

Sanchez was not ill or Injured and we have a better record Defensively when he starts over Dier , he was put on the Bench and watched as Dier got beat by Martial , now I love Dier but at this moment in time , Davinson Sanchez is the better defender , play him, Enough said

Stats do not Lie:

WDL 7-2-0

no Losses when he plays

Love how it’s dier fault with no mention of Verts poor position, awful tracking or Toby standing and letting Lukaku win the header.

Dier was fantastic on Saturday and probably man of the match imo

The guy has/had very slight hammy-FACTS FFS
Don’t want to dispute your FACTS.But find it slightly odd this has not been reported in one single outlet apart from yourself. Also why would you put an injured player on the bench. What if toby got injured, could he have come on.If so he isn’t injured.Surely you’d put foyth on the bench. All seems very odd especially as he had a rest against West Ham mid week. The point about Sanchez is his pace means we defend in a totally different way.It means toby And jan can push further forward. In this case it probably would have meant Toby could have cut out initial header. If not Sanchez would have had pace to cover martial.Dier had played well to that point but ultimately his selection cost us the game.

Was I watching a different game as I thought we played a back 4 and Dier dropped back when we lost the ball or Toby/Verts stepped up the field. Sanchez doesn’t play in midfield. We dominated the midfield. We lost the game because our front players had an off game. We really should have won it. With Kane on the pitch I’m sure we would have.

I actually think Dier had a really good game despite the mistake leading to the goal. Tbh it was as much Vertonghen's fault as it was Dier's.

I just hope Poch isnt deterred from playing Dier at CB, as I do think he is a far superior player in Defence than he is in Midfield.

Total bollocks. Does Sanchez look a decent player? Yes. Is our squad packed with numerous other decent players? Also yes.

Defensively we by and large strolled it, only for individual mistakes to cost us in one single moment. Apart from that we were rock solid, I fail to see how alternative selection could have outdone that.

And then there was Lloris, who changed his mind about dashing out. Sweeper keeper should sweep.

Said exactly the same in the rating thread. Watched it again tonight on MNF and that re-afrimed it for me, Lloris was hesitant and then, just fell backwards when Martial shot.

That's not really true, because Dier played well and contributed to preventing other situations, and it's not like Sanchez hasn't made bigger mistakes than that in games too. You can't say his selection was any more costly than Alderweireld's or Lloris's because they made worse or at least as bad errors.
