Eric Dier has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.

Following the successful procedure Eric will now undertake a short period of rehabilitation. He will therefore not travel on the Club's pre-season tour to Singapore and Shanghai.

The extent of vagueness here is interesting

Considering he had appendicitis, tonsillitis (I think that was last season) plus the various niggles, knocks and strains I hope he gets to have a great season with us, I'm glad that we now have the facilities to pick problems up quickly and proceed with dealing with them this speedily.
Hopefully his rehab goes well and he can catch up to the others. I like Eric I think he's a valuable member of the squad when fully fit.

Yup .... must be worrying an injury straight from the off after a season of non stop injuries - could be perfect for meeting interested clubs ? Just sayin ....

It’s clearly undermined his progress but he’s a great player when fully fit. I was saddened to see some of the negative comments directed towards him (though I think the majority of fans still rate him highly)

I think it’s time that MP games ( Hasbro to y’all post-millennials) bring out the Eric Dier Edition of Operation.

Hernia? These can be “corrected” and can be done laparoscopically now with a much shorter healing time.

Fishing here. Assuming it wasn’t circumcision to make him a “proppah yid”.

Can it be done in the training ground or be booked in and done the next day?

We're all guessing. Could be a cist, blisters, bunion anything.

True. A hernia would probably be a daycare procedure in a hospital. I guess a private hospital or maybe an overnight stay.

Hope he's ok! Feel bad for him and his year of non-sports related injuries.

Depending on how long Dier's recovery is, this could complicate Toby's transfer negotiation. Dier could play centre back well, and with him being out, Levy might have no choice but to let Toby's contract run out, or to offer something he couldn't refuse.

Think you are worrying too much tbh - unless it's a long term injury, which it didn't sound like (but granted, Spurs very poor at giving reliable injury news) then Sanchez and Foyth well capable of covering that position until the games come thick and fast. But yes, i was hoping Dier might revert to a defensive role this season if Toby left.

It was a minor procedure and they decided he shouldn't go on the asian tour. Sounds like he'll be ready for the start of the season.
