Nowhere to go for Dimitar Berbatov as Tottenham try to force striker's hand with new 70,000-a-week contract

Dimitar Berbatov has been told he must sign a new contract at Spurs if he doesn't secure his dream move from White Hart Lane.

Tottenham have yet to receive a bid - they want £25million - for the Bulgarian international despite interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan and Manchester United.

Stay put? Spurs' Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov
Sportsmail online understands that the club have made a new offer to Berbatov worth around £70,000-a-week, which will make him one of their highest earners.

But the 27-year-old is still keen to move to a side playing in the Champions League and has his heart set on a switch to Spain.

Head coach Juande Ramos has already begun planning for life without Berbatov and, with first-choice target Samuel Eto'o likely to prove elusive, the Spaniard is looking at Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito.

I do hope he stays!

But as long as he puts a smile on his face!

Miserable bugger!

If Cristiano Ronaldo goes to Real Madrid for insane money, I'm afraid I fear that Ferguson will meet our £35 million EPL valuation of Berba pretty quickly.

The asking price was £40m, then £35m for English clubs and £25m for foreign clubs. Now, it's £25m.

I'm not sure that there is some truth in all that stuff. But I'm sure that the asking price for the foreign clubs cannot exceed £25m.

Today Marca say that Real are going to sign Huntelaar (who according to many here is not good enough for Premiership), Marca say also that Barca can sign Adebayor. Milan are favourits for Eto'o. So, it seems that all non-English giants would sign other strikers. It's early to say whether this is a good news.

70K a week should be plenty enough! Bloody insane money that goes about in this industry! Bring on the wage caps I say!

Well the way i see it, theres several world class forwards about at the moment who look like they are on the move this summer. I think most of which are considered better value to the top clubs in Europe. The likes of Huntalaar and Benzema are much younger. The likes of Ronaldinho and Eto'o are proven at the highest level and probably wouldn't cost any more than Berbatov. Now reports are suggesting that David Villa could be available for £17m. Then theres players like Guiza and Fabiano aswell, who are likely to move on. So i think we might be lucky enough to keep Berbatov. As good as he is, i dont think teams are willing to pay £25m plus for him when there are cheaper and younger options out there.

I also think that, if Berbatov stays, he will be looking forward to next season. Especially seeing as we're looking likely to sign several top class players this summer. I'm already dreaming of Berbatov, Keane, Modric and Giovanni together next season. Aswell as Capel and Tiago.

I'm not afraid that if Manure sell Ronaldo, they'll buy Berba for 35 million. Let them do so for they're not the same without CR; they'll be weakened. On the other hand, I'm sure that with another 35 million, we can strengthen the team to the extent that we'll come out stronger despite losing Berba.

I agree on the whole. The problem is that there is a question mark over every of the mentioned players. Benzema said he will stay for another season and his price is 50m Euro. Today Huntelaar's agent called the news about him going to Real bollocks. There are doubts about his real class anyway. Nobody of the giants seem to want Ronnie anymore. Fabiano is in advanced talks to sign a new contract at Sevilla according to their boss. Villa is more expensive than Berbatov, at least for the continental giants. Fact is, no giant has signed a centre forward yet and I expect at least 6 of the biggest clubs to sign new centre forwards this summer.

Berbatov is very important. If he goes we will be taking two steps backward.

Just watch the Carling Cup penalty, and for 50 million pounds, you still won't want him to leave. I don't care who we get to replace him. He's a Yid. He might be sulky and seem lazy at times. But he's a fucking yid.

Now that Ronaldo has come out and stated his desire to join Real Madrid, I can see Manchester United coming in with a £25m+ bid for him. Chelsea too will be looking for a new striker when Drogba and Sheva leave. Ideally, I wouldn't want him signing for either of these clubs. I'd be physically sick! Especially if he signed for Chelscumski!!!:bang: :bang: :bang:

Unless Berba signs a new contract, which I highly doubt, he's definitely off, in my opinion.

difficult to balance this one out - on one hand want Berbs to stay but on other prepared to let him go.

we know what he brings to the team and how well he can play - but will he ever really have his heart in it UNLESS we make a big step up in the next six month as all these players supposedly joining us gel?

last thing I want, is another transfer window next January with all the rumours saying that he's going again.

he has to either shut up and stay put for at least another season or go and let us plan ahead without him

If Ronaldo goes from Manchester United, I hope they throw a ton of money at Lyon for Benzema, if not, they're coming for Berbs

Well if Manure do get a silly price for Ronaldo then you can bet your bottom dollar that if the call Levy to buy Dimi, he will demand a silly price too.

I can still see him going after a bidding war breaks out, and though replacing him isn't easy we will have a shitload of cash to do it.

The problem is if no other club goes for him (particularly due to his price tag) he may feel that the club have forced him to stay by over pricing him. He also knows that if he gets his move to a CL team then he will most likely get paid more than £70k per week.

Personally I would rather have another player rather than an unhappy Berbatov. We have already seen what he can be like when he doesn't give a shit. If he is only likely to be playing for Spurs next season because he couldn't get a move then fuck him. I want players at the club who actually WANT to play for the club and WANT to help the club achieve that long overdue greatness!

Saying that, if he does have a change of heart and wants to stay and achieve legend status then bring it on !!!!
