    UEFA CUP NEWS

BUCHAREST, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Ionel Danciulescu scored twice in the first half to help Dinamo Bucharest beat Pandurii Tirgu Jiu 3-0 on Sunday in an ideal warm-up for their UEFA Cup match away to Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.

Dinamo, who have already qualified for the UEFA Cup knockout stage, extended their lead in the Romanian first division to 14 points before bitter rivals Steaua Bucharest's match with Universitatea Craiova later in the day.

Dinamo will be looking for a victory at White Hart Lane on Wednesday to overtake Spurs at the top of Group B and avoid a potentially tough match in the first knockout round in February. Dinamo are second with seven points, Tottenham top on nine.

"We want to beat Tottenham in order to win the group and avoid a clash against a team coming from the Champions League," Dinamo coach Mircea Rednic told Reuters.

Teams finishing second in their UEFA Cup groups will be drawn against sides that qualified third from their Champions League pools in the first knockout round. Steaua are among the latter but cannot face Dinamo because teams from the same country will be kept apart in that round.

"My team's striking force has improved from one match to the next and I'm confident my forwards will be on target against Tottenham too," Rednic said.

Ionel Ganea, who scored Dinamo's third goal on Sunday to take his chart-topping tally to 13, and Danciulescu have netted 23 of their team's total of 41 in 19 domestic matches.

they may have that record but what has the oppositon been like, ive never heard of the other romanian teams apart from dinamo and steaua bucharest

although we mustnt get carried away as steaua drew with real madrid last week and there 14 points behind dinamo

imagine what dinamo would have done to real madrid

its all well and good thinking like that but then you could say imagine what we would of done to barca as chelsea drew with them and we beat chelsea....

Plus Real Madrid are hardly the team they were. The only Spanish team really impressing at the moment is Sevilla.

    8-0 Spurs. Watch.

I think this could be a pretty tough game. As in most of the European matches I think we will have to be patient, and keep moving the ball around.

Fortunatly the pace of the European games will really suit Huddlestone, and he could be key in this game.

Contrary to most, perhaps, I think our midfield was passing the ball quicker and better at times earlier in the season, than they are now. I actually think we are creating less quality chances, recently .... fortunatly we have been finishing the chances, unlike earlier in the season. I just think our play earlier, more suited European matches, than our recent play.

Seems silly to say that after banging in 5 against Charlton, but I think there were plenty of signs in that game, of poor possesion in midfield.

Still we are in a very good position to top the group; I just don't think we should take the win for granted at all.

The thing in our favour, other than being at fortress whl, is that they need the win. They will have to come forward and attack and this will allow us to use the pace we have on the break. I fancy us to win by a couple of goals.

The side picks itself I reckon:

    Robinson

    Chimbonda King Dawson Lee

    Lennon Zokora Thudd Malbranque

    Defoe Berbatov

I think it's especially important we try and score early because I would like to pull Berbi off ASAP, I'd also like a good rest for King and Lennon...

Well he's a good looking bloke, but really is there any need....

This will be a tougher test than we can imagine. Still predict a close win, 2-1.
