Hmmm

Missing a trick there. Why not review every suspect dive. Being banned irrespective of wether your team gained an advantage is a very quick way of bringing it to a stop.

Imagine a 5 match ban for the diver and a 100k fine to the club for each offence.

David Luiz may as well just retire now if that was the case.

But then you're potentially reviewing 50% of challenges made per game.
I think it's fine that they are going to review incidents that actually changed the direction of the game.
Going over on the half-way line isn't likely to result in a free-kick that someone scores from, or results in a red card etc.
If you want to go down the avenue of every suspect dive in a game, because it "might" have some sort of outcome, then you need to review every incident where a team scores a goal from a corner that should be a goal kick...

Some of the papers are suggesting that Richarlison might be looked at for his part in winning the penalty against Arsenal. I haven't seen it yet - was it a dive?

I guess so, he went down easy but sometimes we forget players move at such lightning speed that a slight touch can knock them off balance. Therefore it can appear that a player went down easy, and in Richarlison's case there was slight contact.

I think it would be harsh to ban him, there's certainly much much worse cases. Alli against Huddersfield for example.

Richarlison looks quite a good player btw. Only 20. Very formative moment for him - a lot of dazzling looking young Brazilians fail to push on at that age. England is probably a good place for him to be in that regard.

Deeney sort of summed this up on Saturday evening.
He said he thought at the time that Richarlison was clipped, and that because he's so lightweight and nippy, it doesn't take much to take him down in full flight.

The papers want a story and are whipping up a controversy.

On the incident I would say it was a penalty, knee to knee contact was made and I've seen softer ones than that given.

If it had been the other way round there wouldn't be any discussion. It's only because it lead to Arsenal losing that the media can't leave it alone.

Everton striker Oumar Niasse has become the first player to be charged with "successful deception of a match official" in the game against Palace.

First PL player. A Carlisle player was charged and banned a few weeks ago.

Still means Palace have been punished, too. The ban doesn't help them get the (potential) points back.

Bad news for Everton. Good news for West Ham.

Was it a clear dive? Didn't see the incident.

Not a dive. At that time I believe Richarlison was the most fouled player in the Premier League. Referees should be looking to protect him rather than criticise him. I just wish he played for Spurs. Wenger showed in "honesty" in his comments about the NLD refereeing.

That this Niasse incident is the first one they pick out from the PL games thus far just shows the complete lottery retrospective bans are.

It just reeks of "oh, Christ, is almost Christmas and we haven't banned anyone yet!".

The worst part for Palace is that Everton's next two PL games are against relegation rivals, Southampton and West Ham.

That's just the way it works. A player can pick up a series of cards but won't necessarily play against any of the teams he picked up the cards against during his ban. Seems more unfair when those teams could be direct rivals.

If anyone hasn't seen Phil Neville comments regarding the ban it's a must read . The guy is a disgrace and is saying diving should happen more often
