From the official site...Didier Zokora says he loves stepping out in front of our supporters at White Hart Lane.

The fans have certainly taken Didier to their hearts whith their own song for the midfielder, a version of the Black Lace party classic 'Do The Conga' - just in case you didn't know, instead of 'do, do, do, come on and do the conga', it's 'do, do, do, Didier Zokora' - much to his delight!

"My song is fantastic!" beamed the popular Ivory Coast international at Spurs Lodge. "The fans appreciate me and I want to play well in every game for them. It means a lot.

"We are confident in front of our fans and I always want to do well for them.

"When we win, I go to the fans at the end of the game - I love the fans and I love this team."

Didier knows he's in for a test if selected for our next outing at the Lane - Sunday's clash against Newcastle United in the Barclays Premiership, kicking-off at 4pm.

We met at St James' Park just three weeks ago when, having had our plans disrupted by a late injury to Jermain Defoe, Newcastle tore into us early on, scoring twice in the opening six minutes. We recovered for 2-1 but Scott Parker's goal to make it 3-1 before the break proved crucial and the scoreline stayed that way.

Didier was impressed with that Newcastle midfield. "Parker and Butt are very strong, very aggressive and that's an important dual in midfield," he added.

"Parker is captain and a very good player, he wins the ball, he's strong, a leader. Dyer is very quick, always looking for the space and Martins, the striker, is also quick. They are a threat.

"We're playing well, we're confident at home and this is another important game for us."

"We are confident in front of our fans and I always want to do well for them."

A start would be to pass to our own team Didier.

Score in front of the Park lane on Sunday and do the dance for us!

IMO he needs to spend less time trying to woo the fans with talk. and place his energies into being the midfield force that we would all love him to be.

    Actions speak louder than words

he's starting to worry me....he signs for a big fee, can't get in the team, but is having a great time. Wouldn't you hope that he was a bit pissed off at the moment, warming the bench? Wonder whether he fits in with Big Mart's 'Top Mentality' thesis?
  4. tingy98
i think that's a little harsh..... 8.3 mill euros not pounds i read somewhere!!

he's going to take a season to settle and adapt to the Premiership!!

i'll personally like to see him playing more advanced and going forward a lot more with Hudd being the DMC.......

This guy came in and looked very promising after an impressive World Cup. He gets a mild form of (mild) Malaria and hasn't been the same since? I don't get it! Although I have to say I would rather he played than Tanio!

Also, why can't we be confident away as well as "confident at home" Didier? I mean what do you guys want? - someone to hold your hand onto the pitch and kiss you good luck or something?!

I dont care what anyone says, we all know that Zoko is class and just before he got malaria he was playing superbly! He's had to re-adjust again and once he has back up to full speed then he will be brilliant for us.

I also love what he has said above about loving the fans and the club, he can stay for his whole career as far as I'm concerned!
  7. McFlash
    I agree.
I think Didi is class and while it may take a time for him to settle into our league (as it does most foreign imports), he is going to be a Spurs legend (or so I hope!).

this and the jenas item, are you the guy that over estimates all the time?

I seen him have some games when I could say he played well (maybe 3 games). I seen more games when he was just OK, then I also seen more games when I wondered if he was playing.

i'm with jonnyspurs and mcflash on this one. Malaria isnt something you can just shake off like the flu. It's effects are very debilitating and in many cases, it never truly goes away. This, along with settling into a new league - blah blah blah - you get what Im driving at.

Zok tackles well and his surging runs from midfiled, pre-malaria, looked very promising...something that it wouldn't hurt the hudd to add to his game.

I wish I had seen his class and thats what worrys me. He's had a couple of good runs but i've not seen much else that I made me think this guys gonna be awsome. Maybe he will take a season to settle in.

Another thing, I find it hard to say what type of midfielder he actaully is. Is he defensive, attacking? He started off as the defensive midfielder and has now moved to the attacking one. I know he supposed to be a box to box, but what does that actually mean he does?

I do hope I'm wrong but I've not seen him control a game yet like he did in the world cup. Maybe it's the maleria because I'm sure that would take alot out of someone.

I'm still hopeful as I always am. So `do do do, didier Zokora!`

    COYS!!

Instead of us fans criticising Zokora I really feel we should be giving him some slack as just like many other World Cup participants his form has been suffering.

The likes of Ballack, Gerrard, Robinson, Lampard et al. sporadic form this season is prove of this, so come on guys lets get behind the man, show him our appreciation and he'll come good for us.

    QUE VIVA LOS SPURS
  12. adamsilver
he is class, but fans only watch 2 poor games and think somebody is shit.
  13. JuanRebelde
I think that is called doing a Postive PR job on someone. I like the player but I think we'll really see what he's made of next season as he looks like he's still coming to terms with the English game.
  14. cwhite02
Watched nearly every game this season. Still not seen his class yet, lets hope he just needs more time.
  15. JonnySpurs
No I'm not that guy at all thanks, I dont remember sayin anything about Jenas recently but clearly I rate Zokora and you don't, which is fair enough but I've seen enough of him to know how good a player he is and can be for Spurs.

Often you can watch a player and if in ur head he's already an average player then you'll only ever see the avg things that he does. I'm sure in the same way I may see the good things he does and think they are better than what they are but I dont really care, I rate him very highly and would prefer to see him playing than Tainio or Ghaly, both of which I like too.
  16. gloryglory
If you see someone performing brilliantly - even if it's just once - you know that's a level they can reach. Doing so consistently is, of course, a different matter.

Zokora on his day is an immense player. We need to get him up to his best. GIve him time, have faith in the management, and let's see what happens.
  17. mawspurs
I think Zokora will definitely be a better player for us next season. He has had a lot to contend with this season. He's had to adjust to a new country, new league, new team mates, malaria, injuries. who wouldn't struggle with that lot.

He'll be more settled in next season and we should reap the rewards of that.
  18. BringBack_leGin
Zokora has had maybe three very good games for us and the rest have been rubbish. i accept that he has ability but if he doesn't show it soon then the fans will turn. I would rather see Jenas next to Hudd and Zokora a sub once everyone is fit!
  19. Partizan
He brings so much energy and spark in the team. He has threatened to burst into the box in one of those dangerous counter attacks but it very much ends in him passing it to Ghaly, who would slow down for nothing cause he waste posession or getting fouled by behind.
