Do Spurs need to upgrade on Hugo Lloris?

Hugo once again so far today is showing why he could be upgraded on not for his general keeping but for his kicking and passing

Again against a team that presses he puts us in the shit time and time again

Really? Tell me, who? He's not perfect and could possibly have done better with the goal but overall we couldn't upgrade him.

Put it this way, if we were offered decent money for him from a big side, I wouldn't turn around and say no straight away like I would for other players (EG Kane, Eriksen, Jan).

I normally don't comment on Football Whispers stuff out of principle but can't help myself this time. What an absolutely ridiculous article. If youre going to post adverts dressed up as forum posts/news articles at least make them somewhat sensible. This kind of shit is beyond even talksport levels of idiocy.

I’m not having a go or saying I want him replaced but just saying games like today highlight why we could for a replacement.

If I was to replace Hugo who would I go with?

Asengio maybe? Or the young Bilbao keeper

Just wish he would mix up the kicking. Those chip passes to the full backs are painful and 50% of time land us in trouble. We have a dominant striker who will win a lot of goal kicks. As seen against united a quick long ball to Kane can cause mayhem.

Lloris is the best keeper I have seen in my lifetime.
Anyone wanting to offload him must be a lunatic.
Hugo is top 5 in the world.

Hes not perfect by any means, but look at how difficult Arsenal and Liverpool have found it looking for new keepers. Maybe its time to pick up a younger number 2 that can actually challenge for a starting place but selling him would be a huge risk.

Hi Guys,

Hugo Lloris used to be part of the elite tier of 'keepers in the Premier League. However, his form has dropped off this season and we've taken a look behind the stats.

"Now, a lot of factors should be taken into account: Alderweireld’s absence is a big blow; Spurs have been without Victor Wanyama; and Davinson Sánchez is still adapting to the rigours of the English top flight.

However, as previously mentioned, Tottenham aren’t poor defensively. Their xGA90 is still just 0.83, so they aren’t conceding many high-quality chances, despite having a number of key players missing. The difference between this season and previous ones is Lloris is conceding ‘softer’ goals."

Time to move on from Lloris?

Cheers,

Sam

He is a very good goalkeeper but I don't think he is world class.
94 international caps for one of the best national sides, and their captain too. What would make him world class?

He has had a few iffy moments in recent weeks, just like some of our players have dips in form.

It happens, still a class keeper overall even though his distribution isn't always great.

No. We should be on the lookout for talented young keepers in anticipation for the day he moves on / retires and if that keeper reaches a certain level then an early switchover could be considered (e.g. Cech and Courtois) if need be, but the idea that we should be actively seeking to replace him now is ludicrous.

We're talking about a market where Everton paid £30m for Pickford (much inferior to Lloris) and even City needed two attempts to replace Hart properly. We're very lucky to have Hugo, not the other way round.

Every keeper makes the occasional mistake. This hasn't been his best season, but so what? He's a wonderful professional, our captain, France's captain, and easily one of the best goalkeepers in the league.

I'm not sure who is an upgrade that we could realistically get?

I do think he should have stayed on his feet and just charged at Salah, he went to ground and gave Salah the opportunity to chip it over him
