Do you support the move to East London?

So do you support Levy's plans to move to the Olympic Site?

And the real affect would be negligible to say the least.

The poll would probably come out 80% saying no and 20% saying yes.

Of that 20%, when it came to the crunch I would say 50% would likely bite the bullet and accept the move.

Think the poll should be "Who would stop supporting Spurs if we moved" to see the real affect.

Anyone who would 'stop' supporting spurs ,IMO, was never a fan to begin with.I am not referring to those who wouldn't go and watch spurs at the OS, i am referring to those who would actually lose all interest in us and stop supporting us.

I am totally against the move...ive told you enough...but i would Always support spurs, but it would never feel quite the same to me.

Perhaps, but then there are a fair number of people I have spoken to who have said they will not renew their season ticket if we move to Stratford who have not signed up to the facebook group.

I understand that a few people will not renew their season tickets if we move to Stratford but I can't see that number being anywhere near 3000 or so. We may lose 500-1000 who refuse to renew in a fit of rage but I (i'm guessing Levy also feels this way) that too many of those 3000 or so fans who are backing the WeAreN17 movement love the club too much to instantly stop going because we have moved. Also if we can qualify for the CL for the next few seasons than I think there is even less chance of people giving up their season tickets

I fully agree, I was born into a family who have supported Spurs for generations. Therefore my affinity to the club will always be there, no matter what. I have said many times I am happy with us moving if we cannot stay in Tottenham and I just cannot believe that anyone who loves Spurs as much as I do could just stop supporting

If we find out who the preferred bidder is on Friday, could be good to see then.

Something along the lines of
  • Will go to Stratford
  • Will only go to away games
  • Will Still Surport Spurs
  • Will lose interest, but keep an eye on the scores
  • Will not surport Tottenham any more

If we win it'll probably be 2014/2015 before we'd move in, so I'd suspect there would be a softening of people's attitudes between now and then.

It would probably therefore be wise to have an "undecided / goat" option.

I think a small number may not renew their season tickets, but all of these would be replaced by the ones that are currently on the waiting list.
Like someone said earlier, anyone who stops supporting Spurs, if we moved was not a real fan in the 1st place, and think when it really comes to the crunch these numbers would be a tiny minority.

We all support Tottenham the club, not the location, if we moved then its just another bit to add to our history.

Seriously, can we leave the "you're not a real fan" in the school play ground.

I'm pretty sure people who make that decision would not do so lightly and it would absolutely break their hearts to do so.

If you care so passionately about something that you are prepared to walk away from something that dominates your life, I think they are deserving of a lot more respect than some people are giving them.

thats the part i disagree, for me one comes with the other, but i agree with the rest.

You can't generalise like that anyhow, everyone is different.

But why give up something that is so important in your life, just because of the location?
Yes, if we were to merge with another club, change our name etc but moving a few miles away surely as upsetting as it is, as It would be for me too, would be such a knee jerk thing to do.

So, no its not a playground thing at all.

These "not real" fans stand next to me every home game and have done for years, are flying out to Milan for the second time this season, have been to the likes of Stoke away and are amongst the most vocal in getting behind the team.

They don't want to move to Stratford. They want to stay in Tottenham. It's as simple as that.

And maybe the people who take their tickets will be as passionate, as vocal. But it will be a sad day if the club lose such people.

Then, we will just have to disagree then.

I, too will be travelling to Milan again, and yes will be a sad day too for me when or if the time came of the move, but I could not comprehend and give up something that is so important and passionate to me because of a few miles.

But for some(like myself) the location of the club gave them that passion for the club. Tottenham are the nearest football club to me and that's the reason my family started supporting the club. Now I'm not saying I'm going to stop supporting the club but my passion for the club with its home in East London will not be the same as it currently in Tottenham.

I am half Italian, mum and dad come from Italy. I have an Italian name, my name or my parents names or mine or their passion hasn't changed about Italy because they have moved to England.

My Mum and Dad moved here was a difficult decision, but was made for the benefit of theirs, mine and my brothers prospects financially and for educational purposes.

I am very proud to be English, and very proud of my families history, and the stories told and different cultures I experience by going back to where my family originate to, makes me who I am today.

What I am trying to say is that emotional, tough decisions are made by everybody in life, things are done with the bigger picture in mind for the long term benefacts.

I have a similar background to you, except substitute India for Italy. But I don't understand how you can compare immigrating to a new country for better opportunities to a football club moving to a different location because its cheaper. You're right that both require tough decisions but they're totally different situations. I understand what you're saying about being proud of your roots but in your lifetime you can always go back(on holiday or permanently) to the country you emigrated/originated from and it's easier to have that connection with your history. But once Spurs move to Stratford that's their home for the rest of our lifetime, there's no going back.

Maybe moving stadiums is better opportunities for the club.
