This is the official, Clive Dunn; Sergeant Jones thread for people who find there is little change given on other threads for those who want to run around in circles flapping their arms and shouting "DON'T PANIC" in a panicky sort of way.:eek:mg:

As no-one other than Talksport is giving you a chance to air your views, I thought it only fair to give you a forum.

So post all your; "we are going down", "all the players are rubbish", "bring back; Jol, Klinsmann, Gross, Francis, Pleat etc", "Modric is crap", "Ramos should speak English" rantings on here with impunity and we all promise not to laugh. Don't we?

To be honest, the sooner we face up to the fact that there is a realistic chance we could be relegated this season the better.

Some people do need a wake up call, there is a very realistic chance that the club will go down, for 3 reasons...

1. Due to King we are unable to stick to a back 4, so chopping and changing every game isn't helping the situation, add to that he is our supposed captain, should be Woodgate IMO.

2. We have the physically weakest midfield in the premiership, Modric, Giovani and Lennon all lightweight, teams will over run the midfield.

3. The strikers, or should I say lack of. Pavlyuchenko hasn't learnt english yet, he needs a good year to settle in this country and to the pace and competitiveness of the premiership. Mr Bent is hopeless and him alone isn't gonna score enough. Campbell is inexperienced in this league and we can't put pressure on his shoulders, he's not even our player.

All in all, 3 very good reasons why we could realistically go down.

we've got a very good chance of going down. derby had 4 pts after 7 games last season, we have just 2, and our next 5 games are vital for our premier league life. i for 1 am not looking forward to arsenal away

I think it's more likely than not we'll get relegated

but I've still got some hope yet

Can't see any reason not to panic.

We're not to strong enough to get much away from home. Any team coming to The Lane steams into us until they score and then defends deep hitting us on the counter attack knowing we'll struggle to score 1 let alone 2 goals

We struggle to win the ball back, to do the basics in defence and have a midfield hopelessly out of sync with our below average attack

I pray the players and coaching staff can sort it out - the only thing that gives us hope is we are much better on paper than this

bloody hell i really did think i was the only one who seriously thought we are in a relegation battle already but looking at the stuff thats been written (and by some usually level headed posters) it seems like theres a fair few who agree with me.
i am genuinely worried. my mates dont even slag me, the lads in work done even bother, thats how bad it is. if we were top 6 and lost to hull i would never hear the end of it but but all i got was 'sorry about the wkend', 'not looking good' etc and that has me even more worried.
sacking ramos wont change a whole lot except take abut 15m away from our transfer budget! i want rid of commoli who should pay for us being in this position and i also want rid of half the squad if not more. this is the time we find out who has bottle and who doesnt and at the moment theirs not many in the dressing room who have shown any

I wouldn't quite go that far, I haven't got us down as odds on just yet!

To be honest I think it's a good sign that the fans have so quickly realised we are in genuine relegation trouble, it might filter through to the club quicker. I think the quicker the players start playing like they're in real danger then we could get a few srappy results in the bag and climb away slowly, the longer we leave it the further adrift we'll get.

For me even if we where relegated (Which I don't think there is any chance off, we can buy our way out of trouble) I don't see it as the disaster its painted as by $ky tv. It would give us a chance to start over, rebuild with a new sense of optimism. I also believe we would come back very much stronger, with a better structure to the club and first team, and a better identity of where the club is going and how we get there.

Well ladies and gents, it's like this:

-We need 40-odd more points to be safe, giving us a total of 41-42pts approx.

-That means we need 13 more wins (39pts) from the next 31 games

-Every team for the last 6 years (I think) that has been bottom at the end of September has been relegated

-Our 2008 form says we're going do be relegated

It's not looking good, is it?

However, on a more positive note, most relegated teams have absolute dross throughout their squads. They also don't have the luxary of splashing £50million in the January transfer window (if anybody will sign that is).

So they're the facts - make your minds up time!

PS Personally, I think it'll depends on what'll happen over the next month. Ramos will probably only have one or two more games to prove himself. If he does, then fine. If he doesn't then his replacement HAS to be good enough to see us finish 17th come May 2009. This will be down to Levy!

fair enough Stella :) - when I wrote that I thought that doesn't tie in with current odds (about 5-1 still?)

it's just the way I feel - I just see no way out - yes we can buy in Jan - but there's more settling in needed etc etc

so probably odds on to get relegated is too strong - but I just feel the cold hand of doom is on us - fingers closing round our neck - lose to stoke and I really think it's all over

may be over reacting but it's how I feel

I tend towards depression as you probably guess - though that doesn't stop me getting behind the team singing and cheering and celebrating every win like we've won the lge

mmm shades of manic depression evident here

ah what football does to a man

of course I still stick to my early season prediction of 14th - once I make the prediction that's it - but as I said a couple of weeks ago I'd take 17th like a shot

hi HT I think we only need 11 wins - I'm sure we'll pick up 9 points in draws at least to get the 42

no-one is hammering us - there's a couple of losses v mackems and hull we deserved draws at least - so some of these narrow defeats can become draws if we hit a decent patch

Look you can panic, that's your prerogative, but seriously I don't know what you expected. If you expected Top 4 you bought the hype. I expected mid-table and good cup runs. We have a brand new team that has barely played together. It is full of young talent that is still gaining valuable experience. I know Ramos can win important league and cup matches. I think we should give him and the players time. I want consistency. It's what we're currently lacking. Give this squad two years of Prem experience and it won't be that old. It will be a force to be reckoned with.

I also don't blame Ramos for not knowing our best team. Who the hell does. Could we get relegated, sure we could, but I don't think we will. Will I start panicking if it looks likely near say the end of the year, yes. Until then we need to support this beautiful club. Sing the player's names. Give them time. Have faith. I know it's hard as a Tottenham supporter to believe things are going to look up for us because of how things have gone recently, but they will. Our players are too good not to gel. Our squad will improve.
