I have no idea, but I thought the whole point was to turn us into a big hitter?

We are not owned by a billionaire arab tho! Those guys? Of course i would like to think when the new stadium is built we can rival the likes of arsenal with wages etc.. But city and chelsea Monaco psg madrid?? We aint gonna rival those for money.

Im sure avb is aware of bernard and his talents.

I remember him saying when he was out if the job he was scouting all over the world particular brasil.

So heres wishful thinking that we just might be that team that has bidded for the player.

Sounds like it might be getting a bit to rich for us....

Oh well, as we all know a super team beats a team of super stars.... that's what I tell myself anyway

Idk would City go down the Chelsea route of buying too many attacking midfielders? If they buy Isco then it would seem to me like they would have little space left for a player like Bernard, then again they can afford it but would the player want to go there?

I could see City buying Isco, Navas, and Fernandinho, doesn't leave much room for anyone else. So perhaps we have a chance?

If City buy Bernard, it might leave their other targets like Isco or Lamela hesitant to move there, which we should definitely try to take advantage of.

He looks exactly the type of player that us Spurs fans crave. Unbelievable talent.

Obviously it would have to be him or Villa/PEA/Son etc but I'm not familiar with this guys goal scoring records.

If he were to come in and play wide forward (assuming we go 4-3-3), would he get enough goals or set up enough to be worth more to us than Villa for example? I'd guess that Villa could get 15 goals in the prem with us. Bernard would have a better resale value (of course) but would he compete with those figures or are we looking at more like 8 - 10 for him? If so, that puts more pressure on our ST and Bale.

We have to be thinking along these lines really.

Hope this is true and don't see why it wouldn't be. AVB has extensive knowledge of the brasilian league and Bernard is an exciting talent we must have looked seriously at him.

I seriously think we (on here) are so far off pace that any decisions on him will probably have been made months ago. The management team have either just about signed him up or are onto new targets by now. The only way a club with our wage paying structure can compete with some of those others mentioned is to beat them to it - does our scouting have to be even better than theirs (doubt it) or maybe we have to take more risky chances? The trouble is it's almost self perpetuating - City or Chelsea can also afford to take more chances because they've got the funds to do so. :(

What has happened to the nicknames of Brazilian players? Gone are the likes of Leonardo, Socrates and Garrincha. Now we have Chris, Fred and Bernard.

We've been linked to a number of small, skillful brazilian's over the years...hopefully this time we might sign two! He looks a handful - we've missed this kind of silky skills player for a while now!

i wonder if this has another third-party ownership scenario about it? If so, we should just bulk buy all the third party interests in south america. Nobody would then be able to be transferred without going through us. we'd only have to shell out a few % on each player

Two footed, skilful, can shoot, nippy, excellent vision, can take free kicks and hold off strong defenders ... erm, yh he'll do lol. Why can't Lennon do any of the above considering they're the same size.

In short Ratface with a shot?
