There was a similar thread but I just felt that this story deserved a new thread and I completely relate to it

"Dude, why Tottenham?",asked a friend of mine with an astonished look. And I was compelled to think-Hmmm, why Tottenham?

Okay, it goes something like this. It was the summer of 2006, the World Cup year. I was only 11 and being an Indian child, I grew up watching and playing cricket. Then the World Cup came around and took me completely by storm. Having enjoyed the FIFA World Cup ever so much, I was looking forward to the Barclays Premier League.

That's when I really wanted to find out what football is and why is it so popular, particularly, the English Premier League.

Being an impressionable boy, and owing to some so-called fans(not referring to those who actually support United in the true sense), I would be influenced to watch Manchester United play. After a few weeks, I asked myself, "What's so great about football? What am I really doing?". I couldn't answer myself then, just when Tottenham came along. That easy on the eye football, those lovely fans, those committed players, those lilywhite shirts, those loud chants(my favourite being-Oh When The Spurs) and that grand stadium, WHITE HART LANE. I did not find the need to answer my questions. They were already taken care of.

It's a shame I never got to watch Berba and Keane play together, but who really stole my heart was Luka Modric. Seeing him was always a delight as he flawlessly glided through players. Soon I found myself playing football for my school, and later for my junior college. I realized my passion for football was growing exponentially. It was Spurs who showed me another dimension of PASSION and HAPPINESS. It has been a treat to watch some of the players grace the pitch at The Lane with their mind blowing football skills. Apart from Modric, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Gareth Bale, Jan Vertonghen and Aaron Lennon have been players who certainly caught my eye, to name a few.

At home, I instantly turn up the volume when I hear 'Oh When The Spurs' and sing along. The mere thought of it gives me goosebumps. My dream is to go to The Lane, with the India Spurs flag wrapped around my back, with my hands thrown up in the air, and sing this sensational chant. I know for a fact that'll send chills to my spine even in my coffin!

I believe horror movies, adventure sports and supporting Spurs should not be meant for faint hearted people. Supporting Spurs, obviously has never been easy. But it's this one thing I'll always have my entire life to hold on to. It's this one thing my heart would always beat for.

And now whenever someone asks me, "Dude, why Tottenham?", I don't find the need to answer him. I just shrug my shoulders and secretly pity him knowing he would never know what this really is. In my heart, I know, it's not just football, it's not just Tottenham Hotspur, it's my LOVE, PASSION and RELIGION.

The future is bright,

The future is Lilywhite.

COYS!

So who does he support now that none of this happens anymore?

Most of us are born into supporting Spurs... Both my dad's side and mum's side are huge supporters.

So we had no real choice, not that I'd have it any other way!

Although you must have to realllyyyy turn up your volume to generate the illusion of an atmosphere at WHL nowadays ;)

I am a true yid since 2010.

My focus was on the Bundesliga for a long time with only a bit interest in other leagues. I always enjoyed to see when someone else than Chelsea, United, Liverpool and Arsenal was in the Top 4.

In 2010 after my a levels I went to the UK for one year and as a passionate football fan I went to every premier league stadium in London. To inform myself I informed me about the squads and I thought Spurs ones was very exciting for a non Top 4 regular team.
With the help of a friend I was able to visit Spurs v Twente and the amazig atmosphere got me immediately.

I continued to follow spurs and went to several games (Inter Milan, Sunderland, Werder Bremen) . Because I really loved it to be there I bought a membership and a Spurs shirt (Bale #3) . With the daily media my interest in english football grew with evey week and i got more and more passionate about it. So I visited in the rest of the season about 10 more games at WHL and at the end of the season I even joined the trips @ CIty and @ Liverpool.

Back in germany I was suddenly more interested in the Premier League games than the games in the Bundesliga.
Since then I went over to UK for several more games (watch my signatur) . And spurs are on my mind a huge part of the day

The atmosphere is so bad, I was in the shelf side and was shocked that I was the only one in my block booing Charlie Adam
Because @King of Otters dad made me!

Should be greatful really, since the alternative was Coventry.
You know what I laugh when I meet coventry fans from 87, since everybody use to support who won the fa cup on tele the year they started to watch footy

I was born there (say it quietly) and mother was a cov fan. Fortunately father doesn't like football so I wasn't forced to support anyone and got to make my own choice, influenced by the only football fans I knew at the time.

My children will get no such choice however.

I have been thinking about this lately, one of the reason I support Tottenham was because they were my dads second team and nobody would let me choose a championship side.

Lucky for me West ham were in the championship then(as they are my closest team)

But do I give my kids the disappointment that we have experienced for the rest of their lives? Its a bit cruel

my dad & uncle gave me a choice of Pool, who were winning everything when i was young, L'rse who were only a few years after their double :poop:, and Spurs who they both supported...

he he, like there was a choice at all :)
