Last season, when he mostly played at left back, he looked average. This season under Poch he has looked decent. I dont think we should let him go just yet really.

Maybe, but with Rose, Davies, Walker, Yedders and Dier, you've got to ask just how much playing time would he get?

Yedlin needs to prove himself an able understudy first.

I agree. We can't just assume he will be able to deal with the PL straight away. He will need to be slowly introduced to games as a sub and in cup matches.

The Mirror's getting ahead of itself again. Yedlin isn't entitled to play in England yet. (If he plays in all the USA's scheduled competitive fixtures next summer, he'll still only have played in 9 out of 14 competitive internationals, which would be too few to qualify for a work permit.)
If we assume that he stands more chance of qualifying by getting a Latvian passport, surely something would have been announced by now?

Yedlin would not count as home grown so we would have to get rid another player who is not home grown selling naughton would only make money not free up a spot

You do know it takes more than 2 weeks to get a passport, right? They are in the process of getting the passport. That is what Yedlin said 2 weeks ago. I imagine it is still the same stage. On saturday, the announcer said his grandfather was getting it first and then he'd be able to get it. We have 2 more months. Yedlin is in the MLS playoffs right now. We'll find out what the deal is in january probably. The club isnt exactly good with pr either by any means

Yedlin is unproven and Dier is not a right back, as was painfully demonstrated against Newcastle, so for now I think Naughton is ahead of those two as Walker's understudy, assuming all are fit, which is a daft assumption in itself. Furthermore he's been adequate as back-up at left back. I think we need to keep Naughton to avoid being caught short again, as has often happened in both full-back positions over the past several seasons.
