Agree totally about the last bit.
Started last season very well, had us thinking we had another genuine destroyer to cover/compete with Sandro, but then his injury came at a bad time, and when he came back, whilst still lacking fitness and sharpness he was pushed into CB, whilst the team was already imploding. He was never gonna blossom I'm that situation. Following that, issues with dropping out of favour about wrote his season off. Good to see him back. Genuine destroyer at the base of midfield, but with more than a little composure and quality on the ball too. Will fit into Pochettino's system as well or better than any of the others in my opinion.

I tend to agree. if MS joins in this window I can see them being the cornerstone and will allow the change to 433 with Erickson/paulinho or Holtby being used in a three. Thus allowing a more attacking presence with lamala lennon chadli townsend soldado and ade to make up the top three, especially at home.
if all comes to fruition I could see our starting line up at home being

LLorris

walker MM JV Davis.

Capoue MS
Erickson

lamala soldado townsend or maybe Depay:}

i watched the whole game and whilst he wasn't my Man of the match ....I thought he had a decent game.
Within the first 20mins or so he made 3 GREAT tackles and broke up play well.....opening mins down our left side when chasing back after rose lost it .....he showed speed to catch up then slide and trapped the ball ....fast back up onto his feet and played the ball simple to put us on the attack ...

Naughton was sent off in the 29th minute i think, then Capoue moved into the CB position. So for pretty much two thirds of the game he was playing out of position, and played out of position a damn sight better than Kaboul.

Oh, and i saw the while bloody game live.

indeed he did ....but within them 29mins ....he showed some nice touches, good tackles etc....then done well when he was asked to drop into defence.
Like I said he wasn't my man of the match but was right up there for me.

Only first game but the signs are there that he could be an important player for us.

Well it wasn't on tv. Only 3k can fit in the away end. A lot aren't savvy enough to watch it on the computer.
It was leading to me asking how people can rave about a players performance when they likely didn't see it.

I got it on the computer. My thoughts were that he was bypassed for 27 minutes as we were genuinely in danger of being overrun.
Then Naughton got off and he dropped back to CB.
So, he had 27 minutes at CM, we were not playing Well at all, then he played 63 minutes at CB.

I'm at a loss as to how so many are raving about him and saying he must start.

You think most aren't savvy enough to go to Google, find a live stream and watch it?

It's not that easy though is it?
I only get it through a site that required various iffy downloads that mess up my expensivish laptops performance and require either big balls or blind ignorance to install.
Some people don't even own computers that are up to scratch.

Really? Because on Saturday, I went onto Google found a site streaming the match, then watched the whole match. Every bit as easy as I described.

Any streaming website that suggest I download certain software in order for it to work are closed instantly.... There's plenty out there that don't require it just to watch a game.

Have you already downloaded something in the past?
If you want to watch anything via wiziwig or sopcast you need additional software.

Not downloaded anything, got a pretty basic laptop.

After a bit of searching I've found sites that allow me to watch without downloading anything.

Pretty simple stuff.

Well all this live streaming stuff aside - Capoue had a very good game. He was very good positionally, physically he was up to the West Ham challenge and in my view will be a very good member of the team. Another person whose performance deserves a mention is Benteleb - his role in the heart of midfield almost requires anonymity - the constant and quick rotation of the ball into positions where others can do damage.

The kid is 19 - he is a full international, shows tremendous positional maturity and dictates the tempo of our play very well indeed. I hope he gets a lot of game time this season. He doesn't need to do Sandro type tackles because he is usually in good positions to intercept. And in attacking roles I think he has quite a bit more to offer. Remember that shot? Very good technique indeed

I think the 2 go hand in hand. Bentaleb will be a cracking good player but needs a player like Capoue to free him up. Last season when he was paired with Paulinho we were so lightweight through the middle it was beyond a joke. I think Bentaleb is still very over-hyped at the moment but he does move the ball around quickly and simply which is what we need. Long term though, I think he will lose out if (big if) we get Schneiderlin.

Well I don't think anyone hypes him up at all. He is almost like the Kane of midfield. The only reason why anyone ever mentions him in the media is because of him playing in the World Cup. But for him to be 19 and play consistently in the heart of midfield for a premier league team is reflectively of his ability. Yes he will lose out to MS in theory - but I think MS and him in the same team is possibly another alternative? Time will tell

I managed to watch the game online without downloading anything. I've also watched all the pre season games online and Capoue looked excellent during our US tour.

I thought Capoue looked different class early on and was pretty good having to play as a CB for an hour. Seeing him playing at CB makes you realise how poor Kaboul is at the moment.

All this "on-line/off-line" talk; I can't even run bloody 'Windows 8' very well.......but then I can remember radios that were run by batteries weighing 5 pounds (er, 2 kilograms) and 78 r.p.m. record players.
