How can we agree terms with a player without having agreed fees with a club?

Either we are tapping up or we must be so close on a fee that his club gave permission to speak to him

Said we hadn't agreed terms with the club, not fee. Could be payment structure type stuff...

IIRC the same thing was said about Leandro, I think by JJ
something about the club keep changing their minds about the price.

So maybe Hazard's club have given us permission to speak with him.

I won't get excited until it is on the OS, he is one of the hottest properties in world football, I'd be shocked if a club with deeper pockets didn't get involved with this. I hope I am proved completely wrong.

Would be an enormous statement of intent however, especially if it is backed up by a Remy or Ade on a permenant. The more talent we sign, the more players like Luka and Bale are going to realise there is as much chance of success with us as with Chelsea, Arsenal etc.

Meh. Would prefer us to follow the Liverpool method. Rather spend twice as much on Stuart Drowning than some rising star of European football.

Him saying 'maybe' to me shows this is a long way off if its in the pipeline at all, and if it is then its probably a bad sign we are hearing about it from journalists.

Even if this were to happen, I don't think it would have much bearing on Harry staying. Hazard is the sort of player that every manager would want in his squad.
