What's new

Either BBC really sucks or they are just completely biased against us!

I actually think if I were doing a media thesis on perception and hype the Liverpool situation would be quite interesting. I’ve absolutely no doubt that Klopps demeanour is at its core. If they had another manager like say sarri or Emery or actually pretty much anyone,I don’t think the hype would be this out of control. Yes there’s other ingredients that are driving it. But it’s like some massive heavy metal snowball that Klopp is pushing. Hopefully it will all melt away after mid September.

Love it, but don't think we are treated fairly. All I hear is Liverpool are going to win the PL and only Liverpool can stop City this year. Kind of sick of it to be honest because so far all they have had is a poor poor West Ham, Palace, who deserved a point, and Brighton who deserved a point.
So what? It wont affect what we will or wont do with regards to what goes on the pitch or our final position. Mate, when the press was going wax lyrical about us in the last few seasons when we were one of the favorites, I didnt read of any complaints. Let them swoon over Liverpool all they want as it will put pressure on Liverpool to deliver. No biggy

Do you think the media had any role (even a small percent) in helping Leicester win the title, because I do. Eg. Making us play 3 MNFs in a row so we were always playing catch up to their results increasing the pressure on us.

The only thing wrong with that article is that they forgot to add us to the list of teams that had played two and won two, but they didn't mention Bournemouth either.

I agree.
Frankly I am happy to wait until after tonight anyway. We won the first two games and we would have been expected to and now have a very tricky away tie, against a wounded Mourinho team. We haven't spent at all and we do have stadium issues. We are not a title winning narrative right now.

That's fine, we weren't slapped down, we were just ommited off of a list. If this was after 10 games, I might raise an eyebrow, but right now the BBC wanted a headline and Liverpool are the current favourites to mount a challenge, to be honest, I think that's fair.

If our time comes this season and think it might, then I expect the media to spin a few positive articles our way, especially the BBC, who have dished out enough positive articles about us in the past.

I sometimes wonder - if it wasn't for the Beatles, would LFC have had a similar story to any other northern club these last 50 years?

If the moptops had come from Sheffield instead, maybe the media would have been drawling over that city instead for the last 50 years, praising how witty and good natured people are from there.

When the media are continually promoting a city or the club of the same name, expectations rise, and refs can't help but be influenced too.
