I don't care if he eats hair sandwiches, if he can score like we know he's capable, he can be as mad as he likes

Would be over the moon if we managed to secure Adebayor. I have always wanted a top african striker, but so far I have not seen it.

I can't see this happening. Not after City refused to let us have Bellamy...

completely different situation:

a) they hadn't made CL at that point
b) not desperate to off load then, now upcoming FFP regs and 25 man squads
c) his wages arn't as big (Bellamy)
d) they have just signed one of the best players in the world and now have an abundance of forwards
e) probably don't see us as a direct threat to them anymore, we are in a second tier with Pool and Arsenal - they're in the company of United and Chelsea.
f) they might not have any choice, if Real dont want Adebayor then we are probably his next choice and unless they want to be paying someone who isn't in there 25 man squad....Adebayor will have a lot of sway in where he ends up.

This could be a fantastic signing

I can't believe Man City have done it though. They will have strengthened us immensely. Silly twats for buying 8 strikers

Agreed, no matter what your opinion of is on Adebayor, it's hard to complain about buying a very good striker who ticks a lot of boxes for on a £2M loan fee + wages.

For what it's worth, I don't like him, and feel he's slightly overrated but over the window I've been warming to the idea. He's certainly a massive upgrade on any our current strikers and can play the lone role in front of VDV so much better than them. I could see him doing very well for us and he's a pretty small risk, given his previous PL success and the relatively small financial outlay.

It'll be nice to have a striker who is an actual threat on his own (instead of just missing chances others provide), and can improve the team's play but still score a good amount of goals.

Overall, pretty happy if we get him but still hope we sign another striker so we're not back to square one if Adebayor gets injured or has a cold streak.

This cannot end badly.

He hates Man City for how he's been treated there, so he'll be eager to get ahead of them in the table.

He hates Arsenal for reasons I've never quite figured out, so he'll want to push us to be the best team in North London and take advantage of their current problems.

He's also a great striker who'll thrive with Lennon, Bale and VDV supporting him.

This will be superb business.

This.

He is one of the ugliest players to watch and lacks in so many areas, yet he is as effective as any in Europe when given game time.

------------------ Adebayor
Bale ------------------------------------ Lennon
------------------ Vander Vart
-------------- Modric ------ Sandro

That is better then anything we can come up with right now. Bale, Adebayor, Vander Vart and Modric would all start or come close to starting for us.
