Sun, beer and plastic chairs. Always going to go wrong!

I don't think we can all jump around and blame the England fans just yet. From what ive read on facebook, they were ambushed.

Punch bags of Europe, you know what you are!

I'm not blaming the English fans for this - they do seem to be targeted for the sins of the 80s hooligan element.
If they're guilty of anything it's being naive enough to think that French police will treat football crowds the same as English police will treat them.

Just mentioned this in the Euros thread. Lads better be careful. Marseilles has seriously dangerous people beyond anything these guys can probably even comprehend.

Especially if, as reported, they're going around chanting ISIS related songs. Dangerous game right now
You wanna see dangerous? Head to Iraq or Syria. England fans chanting for ISIS is disgusting.

So we should expect England supporters to sing songs about Islamic terrorists in Muslim areas of France ?

And yet this is also just locals goading Englans supporters.

It's not that England supporters singing those songs are thick, probably racist, arseholes ?

Pathetic aren't you.

England fans have every right to chant that. I know you've got a small and selective memory but it was only weeks ago that plans were found on an ISIS terrorists laptop to target England fans in Marseille. Perhaps you think if the English fans kept quiet it would all go away?

Well yeah. I'm pretty sure that Iraq and Syria are more dangerous no argument from me there!!

Surely they weren't chanting in support of ISIS?

I blame the England lot here 100%. These ****s were chanting for a terror group in a country that has been the scene of 2 awful attacks within the last year ffs. Disgusting behavior. This lot deserves to be beaten the shit out of.

They were chanting to challenge Isis not in support of it. If any terrorist attack happens at Euro 16 you'll hear that chant at English football grounds too.

Can't help but feel this behaviour is a direct effect of the FA officially giving their backing to the England band. If I'd gone for a nice holiday in the south of France only to find myself stuck within hearing distance of those loathsome shitebags I'd probably smash up a few patisseries too.

Generally speaking it's best to have at least some basic knowledge of what you're talking about before getting all righteous and indignant.

There are ghetto's and gangs there like you can't believe. There are sectors of the city so tightly run by gangs that the police are not allowed in even. Gang members have Kalashnikov's and light artillery. Who's that EastEnders guy? He did a documentary on it a few years back.

then in parallel you have alot of higher level gangsters based there, the Corsican mafia for one, and most pertinent to right now the Russian Mafia. Their bosses live in Monaco adn their 'soldiers' run riot in Marseilles.

That's the shit they need to really worry about. Don't go larging it on these guy's territory. Bad, bad, bad idea.

Or they were chanting to wind up the local muslim community.. who could possibly say.

Seems a bit OTT the French having to resort to tear gas.

Our po po tend to use such tactics as a last resort rather than just wading straight in with it.

Well exactly, and probably why it's best to not jump to any conclusions either way, particularly as the stuff about the Isis chanting seems to be up for debate as to whether it happened or not.

That's another one off my Euro 2016 checklist. Have Wilshire and Sturridge crashed into each other yet, ruling both out of the rest of the tournament?

They interviewed a French barman where the 'trouble' happened, he said it was pretty much all blown out of proportion anyway, blamed the police for being heavy handed, said the English fans were all being friendly and just enjoying themselves when a group of 50 or so French lads tried goading them...and he also said there were no songs sung about ISIS.
Sounds like the press making a mountain out of a molehill again, and they fucking love doing that.

True, there's a video of some chanting "no surrender.." so it doesn't seem beyond the bounds of possibility but you're right, no leaping.
