Sweet Jesus look at this shit!! These are fucking CHILDREN! by the looks of it itinerant gypsy or refugee CHILDREN being taunted and encouraged to fight for pennies by England fans!

I'm done ... this is too much. Absolutely sickening, i am genuinely shocked and a little bit traumatized by this tbh, i have a son about that age.

It reminds me of a game we used to play as kids called Scramble. Isn't it also a Scottish tradition that the groom throws coins for kids?

There's a picture on the internet of those kids in Lille when the coins had stopped being tossed. Their swag bag ended up with a couple of pounds in weight of coins. Kids must have had a good day. I think people are trying to find offence in something for the sake of it.

It really doesn't matter if they give them a million pounds if it's on the condition of putting them through that shit.

Have you ever seen the movie 300? They will become Spartans from this.

Exactly what shit are we talking about? Having to pick it up from the floor themselves? That's Scramble, those fans probably played it themselves as kids.

So when you come round my house for tea it's okay for to just through the cakes on the floor and we all fight for the best? It's the dignity or lack thereof in getting them to pick it up. Are those adults so pure they can't approach the kids and hand it to them?

No, I'm not going to encourage doing anything with cakes at your house. I'm not sure what cakes has to do with it.

As a kid did you never play scramble? Ever been to a Scottish wedding?

This is being blown way out of proportion by the I'm so offended class. The coins were tossed in the air and not thrown forcefully towards the kids

I've seen many a dust up after rugby matches in and outside of Wales. It probably has something to do with the fact that all of the English rugby fans are barristers and doctors etc etc. I've also seen big fights between fans on tour in NZ and South Africa and that's not even going into how the rugby players themselves (especially the Englush) can act off the pitch.

Rugby is no different when you go to countries where it's not a middle/upper class sport.

I could literally name at least half a dozen times I have personally witnessed big fights between rival sets of fans/players after rugby matches.
Calling bullshit on this.

I've been going to rugby matches about 20 times a year for 25 years.

Never, ever seen a fight. Never felt threatened or saw anyone else who did. Never been sworn at or insulted. Never.

Maybe but I've seen cameramen throw money in a bin to take a photo of kids clambering in the bin and selling it as poverty photos.

These fans are the first to say "fuck off immigrants!" & "EU money for UK not foreigners", then do this to "help" the kids except, it wasn't done in kindness, it was done as sport, as entertainment.

An extreme example is missionaries taking "the word of god" to the dark continent. Bringing light & salvation. But they brought slavery, and laws meant to hold them back, and a flag for them to die for. Let them serve us in this life so in the next they might be born again by christ.

To pass off the act of giving with no kindness is to miss out on the spirit of giving. They weren't giving anything, they were paying for entertainment and the kids didn't even know they were the entertainment.

You see why I think this is very different to a Scottish wedding custom?

I've watched a lot of footage now of the trouble, Stan Collymore's two periscope video's were actually quite a good insight of the policing in general.

To be honest I think the way the French are policing it creates a self fulfilling prophecy.

From what I've seen most incidents seem to be a large number of English people gathered, be that at a bar or in a square etc, drinking and signing songs (some distasteful no doubt) being flanked by a large number of riot police. Inevitably you get the odd moron acting up, giving it some (but not throwing stuff) just generally being a drunken twat. The police decide that don't like that so charge on mass, pepper spray people, or tear gas the situation which then sparks a reaction (no excuse but a likely result) and then it escalates from there.

Why not send in a couple of police and remove the individual/s over stepping the line, that would be far more effective, even if it was to drag him/them out temporarily and threatened with arrest. Deals with the trouble maker/s and sends a message instead of indiscriminately tear gassing, charging the large group which sends people running around the streets in a hyped up state and it just goes from there.

I'm not excusing these people, there's a lot of fucking numpties out there who are frankly embarrassing, but it appears to being dealt with in the worst possible way to calm the situation.

We (as a board) had quite an in depth discussion about police tactics after the Hillsborough inquest, there seemed to be a concensus that police should prepare for real life situations and be prepared to police those rather than prepare for a way they'd like every fan to behave and then completely overreact, lose the plot and become judge, jury and executioner when they don't. The French police are in the dark ages still it appears, they do nothing and then react with overwhelming force.

I thought traumatised was an absolute, I don't think it's possible to be a little bit traumatised.
Christ in rhe moment I used a stronger word than was perhaps warranted

Looked at the video & imagined my own sweet innocent little son (similar aged) being subjected to such for a mob's amusement & it upset me, that's all, ok?

Can we leave it be & not feel the need to analyze my every word & the sense of it

Blimey, I'm only surprised you didn't bring Hitler or Stalin into it. The fans were having fun, no more, by the way the coins were tossed in the air there didn't seem to be any malice in what they were doing. The kids were getting exactly what they left their house in the morning for.

I guess we should agree to disagree, failing that, feel free to bore off and go be faux offended somewhere else.

You understand it's not about offence, right? It's about disgust. There's a difference
