Trailing 2 nil the girls fought magnificently but could not fully close the gap and their day ended in tears.
They have all been heroes and a tremendously good advertisement for young England.
You can be assured that long after they leave New Zealand's shores they and because of them, their country, will be remembered fondly.
USA beat Germany also 2-1 (coming from behind) to meet the Koreans in Sundays final whilst the England Lionesses wiil play the Germans for 3rd and 4th place.
These young girls have left a better impression than any other English team to come here be it football, rugby et all.
