Smalling and Jones.
At least we know if either of them two start there will be goals in our games....

Agreed, there has to be better than those two both overrated by our wondeful press. Wellbeck WTF he can't hit a barn door a real shame Rodrigez (sp) wasn't fit. Be on the beach earlier than normal.

No disrespect, but I think you're mental.

Meh, it's a game of opinion.

I don't rate Sturridge outside of Liverpool, he's a world class finisher but England won't enjoy the amount of possession and chances that he gets at Liverpool, and I don't feel he is the man to get us behind the back 4 whereas I believe Welbeck is both capable and willing to play out wide with intelligence and Carroll is a plan B/wildcard who we could send on to batter a south american defense or go lazy and lump it forward to him when we're outdone in midfield or knackered.

Likewise with Sterling, I feel Rodgers' system has dressed him up to look better than he is, similar to Lucas and Flanagan and whether you like it or not, Coutinho. He isn't the most mature player either and I just feel that in the heat of Manaus, his legs and mind will desert him whereas the likes of Milner and Lallana will exert more composure.

Oxlade-Chamberlain I'm not entirely convinced by but England need some pace, his versatility and size also squeeze him in ahead of Sterling for me. Wilshere is also a worry for me, I don't doubt his ability but every tackle he takes you fear he's out for the next few weeks, his ankles seem to be made of glass.

Confirmed mental.

Lampard in his hey was a great player, but not taking Carrick or Barry ahead of him is the only glaring mistake IMO.

Not a bad squad but personally would have had:

-Lescott in for Smalling
-Barry in for Lampard, if Gerrard gets injured we are fucked and will be left to play gung-ho Tim tactics.
-Carroll in for Lambert

Agree first two, but no way carroll for lambert for me. Much better overall player is lambert and still can be a battering ram/target.

Lambert is better than Carroll. Frankly a striker with 2 goals to his name this season shouldn't be picked ahead of someone with 14 goals.

He's a better footballer but we need a little more aggression upfront to chuck on if we need to. Rooney, Sturridge and Welbeck are decent footballers. Not entirely sure Lambert offers anything different.

He does, mate, and can be very aggressive and is a very strong/physical player.

Good eye for goal, can take penalties, good head and because he's been at s'ton knows how to work angles/positions in and around the box.

Not really a competition tbf. Only thing Carroll's got is he's an out-and-out bruiser and I can see where you're coming from in favouring him, but Lambert has got that to his game and much more.

Boring England squad. On a selfish note, we'll have more spurs players ready for next season

Woy's voice puts me to sleep.

For some reason it made me think of this gem from our Paul Gazza:

Big mistake not taking Ashely Cole imo. Very experienced and showed this season at Chelsea that he can come in after barely playing and put in a very good performance. Yes Shaw is the future but he has plenty of time on his hands.

Also don't agree with Carrick not being there. I know he's had a poor season but England struggle to retain possession at the best of times and as soon as Wilshere gets broken we're going to be left with Gerrard and fucking Lampard, again .

Surprised Carroll has missed out but Lambert is a better player imo and if it means we won't lump it forward as much then that's a good thing.

At least he's picked Lallana, Sterling and Barkley. Although I hope he actually starts Lallana and Sterling, rather than Milner and Ox. Barkley has the potential to be a real wildcard from the bench. Reminds me a lot of a young Gazza.

One thing that does strike me about our squad when you look at it on paper is that our defenders are pretty shite.

EDIT : forgot about Barry. Bad decision not to include him after the season he has had.

Forgot to mention, Henderson has really proved this season he's a top player in the making. I really think this could be a great tournament for him to cement himself as an essential name on the teamsheet.

Not too upset with that squad.. Probably would have taken Carrick or even THudd, so we can keep the ball and pass it too. Lallana and Barkley are the two I'm hoping will take some teams by surprise.
