Harry Redknapp has revealed that a number of English clubs have approached Tottenham over the availability of Roman Pavlyuchenko.
The Russian international has been linked with a return to his homeland in recent weeks with Zenit St Petersburg the latest club to show interest.
The striker has started only two games this season, both in the Carling Cup, and has amassed just 62 minutes of Premier League football all campaign.
Redknapp admitted on Tuesday that the club were interested in bringing Ruud van Nistelrooy to North London but added that Pavlyuchenko would have to be offloaded first.
"I think Zenit have been on, but I don't think it's true that he's turned it down. I'd be surprised," said Redknapp.
Interest
"I think they've made contact with the chairman and there's been one or two English clubs interested as well."
Despite the rumours Redknapp insists he would not be disappointed if Pavlyuchenko decided to remain at the club.
"It won't bother me if he's here. He can play, he's just been unlucky," he added.
"I've got (Jermain) Defoe, (Peter) Crouch and (Robbie) Keane. We couldn't have five strikers. It's difficult enough with four."
Options
Redknapp also highlighted that the club may look to strengthen at centre-back with Ledley King (knee) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) showing little to encourage the Spurs manager that they will be back any time soon.
"If I've only got two centre-halves and Ledley's long-term, it's going to be a problem, we'll have a look at it for sure," he continued.
"Tom (Huddlestone) could play there but if he's injured as well, that is the problem. Wilson Palacios could probably play there at a pinch but you wouldn't want to go and play 16-17 games with him at centre-half so it's something we're looking at again."
