Sounds like he got it done on the NHS?! That'll set him back another month at least. Levy too tight to even pay private :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Definitely odd. Suggests that it was diagnosed very suddenly while he was in acute pain and needed urgent treatment.

I had the same operation 2 years ago, they don't mess about, I went into the doctors because I had severe pain when I woke up and within 3 hours I was in hospital getting prepped for surgery, that probably explains why it was an NHS jobby. I was back to work after about a week or so, though my job isn't being an elite level athlete, though a few weeks should do it I reckon.

A GP friend of mine has explained that private clinics don't deal with emergency situations, there is little to no way to have it done any other way than on the NHS.

Imagine sitting in A&E with all the chavs with broken noses, 12 year olds with strained ankles and a Premier League footballer rocks up.

I wasn't so lucky .

Feb 2006

Thursday left work early, in agony.
Doctor advised immediate transfer to hospital, suspected appendicitis.
QE2 overnight observation.
7 days of inconclusive tests, rubber gloves, tubes, X-rays, etc. Much agony.
Called a fraud by a foreign doctor.
Consultant finally decided to do exploratory operation after 8 days.
Came out of theatre Friday evening having had a laparotomy.
Found out I had been gutted like a fish from the pubic bone to just below my chest.
Skin held together with about 60 metal staples and a drain inserted.
The discovered I had gangrenous appendix with abscesses and pus all in the area.
.
Sent home after two weeks, permanent pains for almost two years, I knew I wasn't right and the hospital said they could do no more for me. Fortunately my GP got a second hospital consultant to look at me.
Found multiple hernias due to my having lost stomach muscles.
At the Princess Alexandra Hospital they did another op. A Swiss cheese hernia repair.
Involved putting in an A4 sized PTFE covered mesh to give me a stomach wall...

Fucked me good and proper. I'm still alive though.

Looking forward to seeing him on 24 hours in A&E on Channel 4 later this month!

I got my appendix out, was in agony in the hours leading up to the operation, but recovered real fast. I mean like in a day or two.

Unless they burst, which is extremely dangerous, I fail to see how a fit young man wouldn't recover pretty quickly.

Hopefully he'll be good to go next week sometime, boxing day etc.

With Dier, Dembele and Sanchez out for the rest of 2018 at least, no timeline as yet for Wanyama, Vertonghen or Aurier, our more solid/ powerful players are dropping like flies. Downside is obvious but upside is that Winks will see plenty of football and both Foyth and Skipp might get a decent amount. At this stage in their careers every match worth of learning and growing is invaluable.

That is some story. I will never ever give you a neg rating again!

Thought Sanchez was very close to returning?

Had mine removed in 1992. Still a teen back then. 18.12.92 to be precise. Had been nursing the pain for a week. After misdiagnoses too. It was removed and a day or two later re-operated cut in a similar fashion ( public bone to below the chest ) to remove excess fluid.

Walking was a issue for a few weeks. Get well Eric and enjoy the rest.

Sissoko every game. Winks and Skippy on rotation duty. TOB in match day squads. Guess that"s our reality through the xmas schedule.

I'll dig up this old thread as I can't find a player thread for him.

Dier's finished. He's struggled so much since this operation, it appears to have done a bad number on his intestinal system and immune system, he's ill so much of the time now and never looks even remotely fit even when available.

As long as his body keeps playing games with him he should not be playing football. And if these issues never get fixed, then so be it. We had some great years with him and he should've been a decade long mainstay in the side but it just isn't to be.

Couldn’t believe he stayed on the pitch when Skipp was on the bench

Either Skipp has slept with Jose’s wife or he’s got a cunning plan for the boy. Hasn’t played a single minute for Jose yet!!

He's 25. Can still turn it around.

Marty, even as a non sportsman aged 50 it destroyed me, I was unable to go anywhere where there were crowds, always wary of my surroundings, fatigue, mental weakness, having to lie prone just for comfort, sitting in a normal position was no relief, all these things still affect me 14 years later ..
.
Jeepers - just thinking it is around this time (Feb) that it all began.

Not surprised Dier can't perform like he used to.
