So what have we got with this guy? Potential 1st team contender from the off or is he a long project ?

Considering the dearth of quality centre backs for England, I wonder what his odds would be to feature for the national side - perhaps even be in contention for the Euro's?

.....not that I truly care about England but his name will undoubtedly be brought in to the equation - especially if he breaks through this season.

Don't know much about the boy but after watching some brief highlights on You Tube, which I appreciate can be misleading, I'm struggling to tell you what foot he is. Strokes the ball around very comfortably with his right and left - very impressive! For the record, I think he is right footed.

Looks like a Rolls Royce style centre half, very classy. Let's hope he defends well too, certainly looks physically strong.

Exactly the type of signings we need to be making. Very good prospects, just about ready for first team football, and for a very good price.

After reading the Sporting Lisbon forum and the thread on this guy they are disgusted with the price because of his potential but the general consensus is that he is not ready to step in to our first 11.

The fruits of Baldini blooming or just us being opportunistic for once?

Either way, I absolutely agree and it should be a regular occurrence each and every transfer window for a club like ours.

but also means he doesnt count as home grown :(

While that is true I am not overly fussed whether he counts as home-grown or not. If he has what it takes to be our starting centre back I'll be a happy man.

Assuming our first choice CBs are probably Verts and Kaboom he'll get plenty of game time with Kaboom keeping the physio bench warm.

Could be that Broomfield has been looking at him not just Baldini.
