Chelsea and Bayern Munich are among several leading clubs monitoring Eric Dier’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur in case he seeks to leave White Hart Lane.

The England midfielder is unhappy at the amount of game time that he has been given by Mauricio Pochettino this season and is concerned that it could hamper his international prospects under Gareth Southgate, the new manager.

Just ludicrous. It would be plausible - just - to say that he's worried about his future place assuming that we play with 2 CBs and that Wanyama is first choice DM. But he's played loads so far.

And anyway, do footballers really fret about their prospects of partaking in tedious qualifiers? I can believe they worry quite a bit about their future employability and earning potential, can't imagine that scouts in the elite game care all that much for Southgate's views, though.

It's not about just playing though it's being played to your strengths.

I'm more worried that he's gone from being seen as a world class CDM to being used as a utility player and back up for both CB and CM.

Kane stepped in as back up GK ages ago but if Lloris was injured I'd rather keep Kane as a striker than have him 'do a job' in goal (extreme example I know but you get my point)

Sure, but "game time" is so wide of the mark that it makes the whole story rather silly. Unimpressively tabloidesque from a paywalled "quality" paper.

1. Dier has a 5 year deal
2. He has lots of mates here and we are building something special
3. Poch has developed him
4. He said he likes the idea of playing multiple positions like Alaba and Lahm
5. He has played a lot this season and noted he has not been in top form
6. He hates Chelsea

Only truth is I bet Dier is unhappy at the moment. No longer first choice in his position.

The Times should be taking a long hard look at themselves if their deputy football correspondence is coming out with nonsense like this. What are they now The Mirror or the Daily Mail.

Of course he's worried about his England spot. If he's now regarded as a centre back, he's contending with guys like Smalling, Stones, Jones, Cahill and Micheal fucking Keane! How can he ever even so much as dream of getting into the team?

7. He wouldn't be allowed to leave even if he wanted to, especially during the January window and even more so to a Prem rival.

I noted that Poch has come out quickly this month to crush stories re: Dier, Alli leaving - is this a change in media policy? IE do you think the club is going to be more aggressive at tackling stories that can destabilize?

I really shouldn't admire such tackles, but it was Chelscum ......... and I still can't help giggling like a child at those three! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Dier to Chelsea ? ......... I really don't think so!

Haha agree. It is not big and clever. But it did make me chuckle!

I bloody well hope so. For too long the club have been silent whilst those who seek to destabilise the club, and players, give full vent to their deepest wishes in terms of our best players leaving for their own beloved team. It really is about time they were given the literal version of the middle digit!
