Christian Eriksen has spoken out about his Tottenham Hotspur contract situation and described it as 'unnatural'.

Can’t blame the players , it’s the clubs that put contracts for players to sign.
This is a situation that should never have been allowed to develop. I think we are now seeing the implication of not signing Grealish or another versatile forward player EARLY in last summer's window. Given that the window was punctuated by the world cup, shortened to shut before the start of the season plus with the club knowing that Son was going to the Asia Games, it was imperative from both a football and a business perspective to get another forward in so we could put a timeline for Eriksen to sign up or be sold.
Instead, whilst the likes of Leicester were decisive in signing Maddison early, we messed about trying to get Grealish on the cheap which spectacularly backfired after Villa secured investment and then descended into the farce of last minute bids on deadline day . With the security of another forward to beef up the squad, we could have sold Eriksen for around the £100m mark last summer. In the meantime, he has continued to flatter to deceive on the pitch and with a year left on his contract, we'll be lucky to get £30-40m for him this year. This situation has been badly handled by the club IMHO and if he does leave, the value we should be reaping having developed him for the last 6 years (the very essence of our strategy for buying young) will not be realised. SAD.
Quite. Seriously, what is the benefit for Eriksen signing a deal?
He’s on peanuts and we’re not offering anywhere near top dollar, he has a couple of bad games and the fans are calling for his head despite him being our best player by quite some distance, we’ve won nothing for years, we’re not investing in the squad and haven’t done for a while, and it looks like several others may be leaving soon. Can anyone blame him for not banging on Levy’s door asking for some microbrewery shares?
Considering he could basically go anywhere he wanted next summer, it should go without saying that we need to be pulling out the stops for him if we want to keep him. This idea that’s grown that Spurs and Spurs alone are allowed to underpay players significantly yet they should be grateful for it is really quite something
I hate to admit it but if I were his agent I wouldn't be pushing him to sign anything. As long as he stays fit he has his choice of the best clubs in Europe. In the summer he can get a massive pay rise. I hope it's from us but if it's from Madrid I'd understand because this is his last big contract, he can't get another good deal in four years time.Quite. Lucky to get £30m. Ok mate. This is a situation that should never have been allowed to develop. Not sure what else you can do other than stick a fat contract under the player's nose.
I agree. But once he didn't sign last summer, he had to be sold so the club could maximise the return on his value as he had 2 years left on his deal at that point. Unfortunately, we did not put ourselves in a position to do just that.
How much are we offering do you even know? Or is it assumption that we are not offering top dollar?
Its amazing how many people cant grasp that its nothing to do with money for Eriksen and hes holding out for his dream move. He could come out and say it himself and people would still be in here moaning we arent offering him enough.
