Tottenham Hotspur and Christian Eriksen will sit down again before the European transfer window closes to see if a deal can be done to keep the playmaker at the club.

He might sign if there is a realistic release clause to a foreign club. Min 50m. No doubt Daniel will want 80 plus.
A good season from Eriksen and 50m for him is a good deal for all concerned

I can understand him wanting a new challenge. We all feel like that in our own jobs and a top class football career is very short.
I love Eriksen as a player - he is a special talent and agree with others a competitive salary with a low release clause would be a good thing for both parties - say £40-£50m release clause if the move comes along that he wants, and £200k/week salary!!!.
However, he must feel that he is committed to the club in the meantime or it is wasting time and he might as well go in a free.
I still have a little hope, but I tend to feel he will let his contract run down and wait for the January shakedown.

Why would Levy ask for an £80m clause when Eriksen can literally leave for free in 10 months?

If he only wants to sign for Real Madrid or Barcelona then he could be in for a bit of a shock, because (i) they might not want him and (ii) there's a very good chance he'd be a bit-part squad player.

But if he's truly looking for a new challenge and is happy to sign for the likes of Juventus, Bayern, PSG, etc, then I could see him leave next summer.

Overall, this will drag on until August next year in my opinion.

That would be a clause in a new contract. So he wouldn’t be free to leave unless the clause is met.

Other reports are saying that Eriksen is refusing to sit down and talk about a new contract so to me its all rumours until the transfer window closes.
