A starting 11 mainly featuring Liverpool and Spurs players would be something worthy of note, but it is even more so when the topic of the system that can or will be employed is brought forward.

I think we will try to play to many strikers 4-3-3 and it will be an epic fail.

But you never know, Roy might pull it off, the team for tonight if the Sun is correct;

Rooney, Vardy, Rooney, reminds me of trying to fit beckham, lampard, scholes and Stevie g all in, rather than play a balenced starting 11.

Not a fan of Milner either.

selfishly hope they don't employ the press - don't need to see Kane and the Spurs lads get wiped out carrying the rest of the england mob

Agree with newbie above. Playing three up front is not the best option in my view. Much better playing 2 of the 3 as a pairing or kane/vardy up top with Rooney/Alli in behind.

I hope Roy doesn't fuck this up as going forward I think we can be a match for anyone if he has the right shape and tewm selection.

From what I've seen in recent games, Roy could easily mess this up. He seems to have the blinkers on a bit to the fact that the pressing game, after a long season will be too much for the players. Also worried about Ali. He seems to get wound up in every game sooo easily!

Roy is tactically inept. All he has done with this latest team is piggy back off of Poch's pressing game by using more Spurs players who basically know to do that anyway.

I've never seen England press like they are now and that's largely down to Walker, Rose, Alli, Dier and Kane. Problem is that the rest of the team around our 5 lads isn't good enough or displicined enough to carry it off with them.

I hope England do well in the euros but I certainly don't expect them to.

i gotcha as far as the Q/Fs and if your luck is with you y'never know what might happen. Having reviewed the draws I would expect you lot to win the group but in my opinion that puts you in the hard part of the draw. Maybe 2nd would be an easier option.

That's assuming all the other groups go according to expectations. You only need a couple of unexpected results to upset the whole apple cart.

If they play Kane, Rooney and Vardy together the only thing the team will press is a pair of trousers........

Its funny you said that when the article is saying put the Pool boys with the Spurs ones. It bore fruit against the World Champions in a "friendly" encounter. The press is innate for both lots.

The pair they'll wear on their early flight back from France.

4-3-3 is all wrong with this side. The wide forwards in the 3 need to be goalscoring attacking midfielders or inverted wingers. Players comfortable drifting into space out side and working the flanks. That is none of Kane, Vardy or even Rooney.

Kane and Vardy are true (if different) centre forwards. The clue is in the name.

Rooney used to a centre forward but is at best a #10 now (let's not even start with Rooney playing in midfield proper). 4-3-3 has no room for a #10. It certainly has no room for Rooney in a midfield 3!

If he wants to play 4-3-3 post Welbeck then he probably needs to play Sterling and perhaps Lallana or Rooney outside of Kane or Vardy. That's a pretty bad compromise which loses you Kane/Vardy and plays Rooney or Lallana out of position.

Rooney at the tip of a diamond behind Kane and Vardy might work, but shunts everyone else out of position again. Ali is not ready to be in a midfield 3 (definitely get sent off). Wilshere is not fit enough for it. Milner is too slow. Henderson is not creative enough but probably just about does the job.

So if he has any sense he will drop one of Rooney/Vardy/Kane and play 4-4-2 in a diamond, with Ali where he belongs in behind a pair. Which on form should obviously be Kane and Vardy. But for politics will probably be Kane and Rooney.

Then you can have Henderson and Dier carrying the water for Wilshere and Ali (further up).
