Seriously ? Would you rather have watched ManU bore the fuck out of you all season and finish up with what they have or watch what we've played all season ?

If that's success, I'm in no hurry to swap it for our failure.

And they may be average, but that's only because their manager is too much of a coward to get the most out of a team that's had 450 million spent on in the last three years.

He's playing against a team who came second in Europe's 6th or 7th league with an average age of about 14 and his tactics are to play like fucking Leicester playing against Real Madrid ?

Absolutely because as in '99 and '08 poor campaigns will be easily forgotten but the silverware will live on in the memories for decades. I was at both and they are still thee highlights in my time following the club.

And you can dismiss the opponents they are playing but let's not forget that we lost to a mid table Belgium side in the same competition so I don't think we can be so sneering at their victory.

In who's mind ? Only people who live football through fucking teletext, because anyone who's watching and has half a brain remembers great teams that play great football, not shit teams that skank a tin pot. I won't remember this ManU team as a great one or even a good one just because they've bus parked their way to a final against a bunch of 20 yo's, I'm more likely to remember this Ajax team who actually tried to outplay a team who have spent ore than they have in 60 years in the last three.

What a stupid fucking comment.

So we haven't gone nearly a decade without silverware then? This hasn't been a club that has made CL qualification is main priority? Suggesting a change from a startegy that hasn't yielded any silverware is a fucking stupid comment? Really?

I would take a league cup over CL so I highly doubt that somehow.

And the point is we have plenty of good seasons without winning anything, we had that with Jol, Redknapp and now Pochettinho. We need to move from that and have an end product.

All of us want to win trophies. Including the players and manager. Do you think they went out to lose any of the cupgames?

But even if we didn't win a trophy we had a good year and have looked fantastic and will be one of the favourites to win the league next year. If that's not good enough for you maybe you should chose another sport or team because you will probably be dissapointed more often than not and it will probably not be good for your mental health.

What strategy? Do you think we go out to lose cup games on purpose? Did weplay a weakened team against chelsea?

The three best tottenham sides i can remember are this team. 91 and 87. Only one of them won a trophy and this team are better than them.

Mourinho just 4 years ago: "I don't want to win the UEFA Europa League. It would be a big disappointment."

Absolutely no one out of our fanbase talks about our 87 side and no will talk about this side in years to come. Arsenal played great football from 2006 to 2012 but no one talks about them or remembers them. The history books do not care because the measure is always silverware, George's Grahams Arsenal side we thee antifootball side but are still referenced today because they were successful. Chelsea won the CL playing defensive football but that will be referenced for decades when people talk about English European cup winners. People may not like this United side but they have the FA Cup, UEFA cup and league cup in a short pace of time and that is often indicative of bigger things to come. As the likes of Ferdinand stated tonight this is a massive platform for them to build upon, it gives them the necessary mindset and experience for success.

Sorry mate but that's bollocks, frequently in here people talk about the Spurs 87 side as the best they've watched (until now). Everyone in football admired that Arsenal side, the one that outplayed us every year, twice a year.

I don't walk around with a history book. I walk around with my own memories, catalogued how I remember them and for the reasons and criteria I choose, as do most people. I remember good sides, good players and good coaches and how their teams played.

So it has been a shit season then? Nothing good came out of it?

I think when a club plays a weakened side against Liverpool in the first round of the league cup in September and gets knocked out and when it loses to a mid table Belgium side in the Europa then I question our commitment to those tournaments, especially when it has been happening over a number of years now. And that is the issue here, if we were committed to winning those tournaments but came short I could live with that. What I can't take is this passive approach and squandering of opportunities that keeps going on whilst inferior sides like United take those. We won't have this current side too long, we have to take advantage of it now instead of endlessly talking about this golden future which always seems to be next year.

I could probably off the top of my head name the 87 team. Could only remember a few of 99 or 08 (might be because i hadn't found drink in 87 or just that some of the players were a lot less memorable).

As I said no one outside of the supporter base talks about or remember that side. Why would they? And there is a whole generation of Spurs supporters who weren't even around for that season. Again the reference point is silverware, that is what defines the club, it is what will be on the history books. You may view differently but most in the game do not and I think simply playing good foootball shouldn't be enough for this club. If anything is that mentality is what is holding the club back in many ways.

So were we stupid to try and win the league this year?
We didn't have a weakened side out against chelsea or ghent we just didn't win (it happens).
What would your plan be for next season? Rest players in the league and try and win the cups?

We will strengthen in the summer and try and win trophies next year. While also paying for our new stadium that will help us financially to challenge. This is the age of the mega clubs. Since the champions league football has changed it is fucking hard to win anything.

No I'm asking him to quantify that and you are trying answer it for him.

Look at the way we've played this year, I wouldn't give that up for the way UTD have. I thought I was clear on that.

They were lucky not to lose in the leauge cup final, and set out to counter attack a very young Ajax team

Winning trophies, if it is not one of the big one's (PL and CL) is all about the moment. Today it is better to win the EL, than having finished second. But the point is not what we have achieved, that we have finished second. It is all about what we are achieving, the process. That we have become a great team and are still improving. If we keep improving, the trophies will come. And then the trophies will mean something. It will be a reflection of greatness instead of just a compensation for the lack of it.

Who outside our fan base remembers our side that won the 1999 League Cup ? I bet many more will remember this team even if it wins no trophy.
