For the last two seasons their performances have been built around Lukaku and Barkley, so assuming they lose both of them, they're going to have to completely rebuild the team which we've seen ourselves isn't easy.

That said, I like the signings Koeman is making. Good young players, who seem to fit the system he wants to play, and he's got them in early which is crucial as well.

You can't compare them to us because a) we don't actually need to make £80m worth of improvements to our squad and b) we're currently financing a stadium.

But it'll be interesting to see how they do.

Anyone thinking that they wont challenge for 4th is nuts. They have always been tough to beat Barkley will not be a great loss and if they manage to sign Rooney and Sigurdson with their experience I expect them to take points off all the contenders including us

Oh I think they will improve, but.... They finished 15 points behind 4th last season, and are about to lose their star player who was their only goalscorer of any note. They will have Europa league to contend with plus trying to bed in a large number of players. I see them getting closer, but to bridge that gap when everyone else is buying in qualify aswell is just too big an ask in what will undoubtedly be a transitional season player wise. Without Europa I would have given them more of a shout but I don't see them surpassing any of the teams that finished above them last season.

When Everton sign 4/5 players but none of them would make the Liverpool team!

I'd be kinda surprised if this was Carragher as he's an Everton fan and recently was wearing their shirt for an interview so not like he's die-hard Liverpool only, he would probably have equal love for them both.

If they're so happy to spend cash why hasn't Lukaku signed a new contract?

Ambition.

He wants to win things and be in the Champions League.

I guess he stayed an extra season to see if they would get it but they didn't so now he's pushing for a move.

Everton are really putting down a market this summer.

So far

Pickford
Michael Keane
Klassen
Sandro Ramirez

All young, talented and sensible but exiting signings.

Hope they overtake Liverpool.

Some good solid signings.

Would have liked Ramirez for us as could have covered Kane or played attacking role behind him.

The probably still need a right-back thought as Coleman had a pretty nasty injury and Holgate who was deputising I thought was naturally a centre back? I think Pennington was the other one deputising but he's also a centre back as far as I'm aware.

They do have a young right-back who's name escapes me (he's the one who played right-back for England U20's this summer pushing KWP to left-back) but his name escapes me and they were using the above centre backs out of position rather than him after Coleman's injury.

It's his verified Twitter Account.

He's a bit of a twat then.

As has already been said on here Pickford would easily get in over their two shit goalkeepers and Keane is quite possibly better than their current centre backs.

Typical Liverpool arrogance.

Hey pal, I'm no having that, Karius is world class if he just stops throwing it into his own net, world class. And if they brought in heavier footballs that moved slower giving Mignolet an extra half second to sort his feet out, he'd be world class too.

Good on them for having a go. I love the small club mentality on here assuming that if Everton step up then we will be the ones to suffer. From what i recall Utd, City, Liverpool and Arsenal finished below us last season and probably have more cause for concern.

Not sure a single person on here has said Everton will over take us. They are just noting how Many players they are buying. The far more worry are the quality the big boys are buying while we sit on our arse yet again

Yeah, but they're all chucking money around too which guarantees they'll get better. Whereas we're not going to sign anyone at all despite the fact that all our players have peaked and, if anything, are now on a downward trajectory. I guarantee we'll finish no higher than 7th next season.

If we sign no one, or no one of real quality, you won't be far off

Put it this way. Of all the players that Everton have bought how many would be considered by any of the top half dozen clubs in Europe? Exactly. None of them. That implies to me that, although they may have aspirations for a top four finish, the reality is that their imports aren't good enough to take them there. Dream on Evertonians.
