It's almost as if sacking your manager when no one decent wants the job and therefore replacing him with an under-23 coach with no managerial experience is a bad idea. Who knew?

Everton are in a pickle. The type of manager they need right now - Pulis, Allardyce or even LVG will probably want a 2 year deal with loads of money and that probably isn't what Everton want to do. The type of manager they want - Silva or a Poch style coach probably can't or wouldn't want to join them at the moment.

Any manager they go for has them over a barrel. Interesting to see what happens.

Apparently they’ve reopened negotiations with Allardyce.

How unimaginative and fucking embarrassing for both parties.
Well it's quite clear that Unsworth is rather unsurprisingly much worse than Ronald Koeman and Silva looks like it's a non starter. Right now as much as it's uninspiring, someone like Allardyce is what they need to just stop themselves freefalling into the Championship. If I were them I'd get Allardyce in until the end of the season, and spend the whole time really sitting down and looking at what the deeper problems are and identifying a manager that can work for them long-term.

Thing is though Sam now knows they're desperate, so why would he agree on a six month deal? Might as well demand 18 months to get the payoff if they want someone else in the summer.
They're up shit creek really, made me laugh how in the summer Mike Parry was saying that next season they WILL be challenging for the league, not this year though, its too soon apparently, top 4 was the aim for this year :ROFLMAO:

Oh absolutely, that's fully what I expect him to do as well and you can't blame him. They've really left themselves in a stupid situation. My point was more that I don't agree with people moaning about pointing Allardyce because presumably it would only be to put out the fire. I'd understand the criticism if he was hired with the aim of him taking them to the next level over the next 4 or 5 years, but at the moment just to steady the ship he's exactly what they need. Like I say, get him in to sort out the current mess and buy them some time, then in the meantime sit down and work out how to sort things out long-term. Unforotunately, as you say, they've left themselves in such a shit negotiating position they'll probably end up paying Allardyce for 5 years whether or not they want him for that long :ROFLMAO:

We need to re-sign Gylfi and Lennon in January. They haven't done anything that deserves the punishment that is playing under Allardyce.

He’s got the bent over, he can demand a 2 or 3 year deal or enormous 18 month deal. And he now knows he was never their first choice, or even second possibly.

And what’s their thinking? One minute they are after Silva - a completely different coach to Allardyce- who’s much more like Martinez who they sacked 18 months ago.

If they want a coach like Silva why are they even considering Allardyce, go and get another coach who’s profile is more like Silva’s.

Yeah I agree. He can virtually name his price.

Regarding Silva vs Allardyce, I don't think it was ever a case of both of them being the final two in the shortlist, it's just a case of long-term vs short-term. They initially wanted to bring in Silva as the manager with an aim to him staying long-term and bringing the club forward, but since they can't get him they're now looking for a short-term stopgap to stop them getting relegated and then they can try again for Silva (or another long-term appointment) in the summer. But you're right, no way allardyce agrees to a 6 month contract so they're going to have to pay him either way even if they do only want him til summer. So badly handled this whole situation it's laughable
