If I recall correctly, his confidence took a huge knock after he made that dreadful mistake for England.

Mistake ? Where the ball hit a divot & went past him ? Hardly his fault imo.

As an outfield player you can make mistakes all game long, as a keeper, 1 mistake = a goal. Who'd be a bloody keeper ?!

The mistake was taking a swipe at the ball that was fizzed at him especially given the pitch was awful and he was under no pressure. Should have taken a touch.

It was a mistake but certainly not one he deserved to be vilified for.

Why did robbo decline so badly for us? He was top drawer at one stage

He just seemed to be too heavy. He was built like a brick ****house and I think it impeded his spring and agility when making saves from long range shots.

Seems like a top bloke though. Glad to see him back in the Premier League.

Had no idea that Paul Robinson was playing for Burnley!

I would argue that Sig and Lennon are still good enough for our squad, even if they wouldn't make the first 11.

Sig never played under Poch right?
I'd love to have him back, reckon he'd give Eriksen some much needed competition.

What would people's teams be? Based on current ability, not success with us (as that would pick itself I imagine).

I'd go:

Gomes
Smith Dawson Kaboul Daniels
Capoue Mason
Townsend Sigurdsson Chadli
Defoe

Robinson Livermore Naughton Huddlestone Pienaar Lennon Crouch

Robinson had an excellent start to his Spurs career, when he was in peak fitness. Then he got fat, not sofa fat obviously, but enough to struggle. Same happened with Neil Sullivan really.

Think that's a good shout, maybe Carrick still (bench atleast)
And I must say, that team would probably be better than the ones most of them play for

Bit of a weird bump but I heard today that Wayne Routledge is 32!!?

How did that happen?

He was 31 and then got older.

Updated for Tommy Carroll and Livermore's moves.

Interestingly, could make up a spurs youth products xi if you sourced a little from the championship:

Button
Smith Caulker Stewart Daniels
Livermore Mason
Townsend Carroll Ward
Crouch

God I loved Robbo... Had a real connection and bond with the fans.

Used to love chanting "Englands Number 1" at him and him turning to wave back at us :singing:

Yeah, he just lost the ability to transfer his weight quickly and it looked like his feet were in concrete boots - hence the propensity for beaten by long range shots in his later Spurs career. Still, you can't tell a Yorkshireman not to eat pies, can you?

Robbo starting the "Stand up if you hate Arsenal" chant in a europa away game when I'm pretty sure he wasn't playing was class.

First time he came back with Blackburn to the Lane was amazing one of the best receptions for an ex Spurs I've witnessed, you could almost see him choking up

I have always blamed Gary Neville. Golden rule for back passes to the keeper is aim it wide of the goal. ..just in case that happens. Aimed a metre or so wider and the worst that occurs is a corner. Factor in the butterfly effect and Spurs are champions of Europe!
