Yeah, he just lost the ability to transfer his weight quickly and it looked like his feet were in concrete boots - hence the propensity for beaten by long range shots in his later Spurs career. Still, you can't tell a Yorkshireman not to eat pies, can you?

I think the fault was always there and opposition players became more and more aware of it. Shame, great lad.

Beautiful fucking cross from Carroll for Llorrente to get the second, to cheered that loudly. My poor missus does not understand!

Good for Carroll. 90% chance he will be plying his trade in the Championship next season but he needs regular playing time at his age.

Steven Caulker fined after a drunken railway rampage in which he threw objects at passers-by and tried to put a temporary barrier on someone's head

QPR defender Steven Caulker has been fined after he threw objects at passers-by and tired to put a temporary barrier on someone's head at a railway station.

The £40,000-a-week footballer, 25, was arrested at Clapham Junction Station in south-west London at 12.40am on January 16.
At Wimbledon Magistrates' Court, the former England international pleaded guilty to being drunken and disorderly.

He was fined £650 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
The Sun reported that Magistrate Elizabeth Hopper told him: 'It's the third time you have been in trouble for doing things out in the street you should not be doing.'
In November 2011 he was arrested and fined for swearing in the street, during his playing days at Swansea City.

Last week, it emerged that the former Liverpool, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur defender landed himself a £1million windfall with a loan move to Lokomotiv Moscow on transfer deadline day.
Caulker signed with a joining fee of £500,000 and will receive £40,000 per week to play for the Russians.

He joined Liverpool on loan from QPR in the January 2016 transfer window but only made 3 appearances.

The article says he joined Lokomtiv Moscow on loan but I can't see this reported anywhere else.

What a clown, really throwing his career away. He has gone on loan to Moscow, they were tweeting about having a three lions player

Surely that's quite a lot for a defender in the Russian league? Especially when they have that foreign quota thing?

Had all the physical attributes to be a monster defender but ultimately another without the correct mentality.

Mixed bag for ex Spurs players this weekend just gone. Adam Smith gave away a penalty, Huddlestone scored an own goal and Robinson conceded three. On the flip side Townsend scored a beauty, Carroll was superb with key involvement in an equaliser before a perfect cross for the winner, and Sigurdsson got the assist for said equaliser with a lovely back heel.

Gomes made a horrible mistake while Crouch assisted with a knock down.

Honourable mention for Defoe who was unlucky to hit the woodwork with a lovely self made effort.

Nothing notable from Carrick, Livermore Naughton, Kaboul, Daniels, Capoue or Chadli.

Dawson and Mason remain injured.

Ex Spurs team of the week:

Robinson
Smith Kaboul Capoue Daniels
Townsend Sigurdsson Carrol Chadli
Defoe Crouch

Very good day for the boys at Bournemouth, especially Charlie Daniels who was a constant threat down the left and scored a beautiful goal.

Odd day for ex Spurs at the KC stadium, with Huddlestone and Dawson coming on late when Hull had sealed the points pretty much, while Gomes was the only Ex Spur playing for Watford, conceding two.

Good day for our alumni at Swansea, Carroll scoring, Sigurdsson assisting and Naughton being part of a defensive clean sheet. Crouch played the 90 and got booked.

I thought we had an ex chinese player called "Xi May" in the prem then lol!

That's not a bad team there. I might be tempted to stick in Carroll for Capoue though!

Don't ever remember being in this thread before. Saw this post thought it was hilarious, went to rate and found out I already rated it 'funny'. One of the greatest uses of a gif I've ever seen.

I know these are all old posts, but I hope you've all read his interview with the Guardian. Can't help but feel for him and tbh I don't think we did enough to help him before we let him go.

i always enjoy keeping track of our old boys. This year sees the following alumni plying their trade elsewhere in this league:

Goalkeepers:

Huerelho Gomes - Watford

Defenders:

De Andre Yedlin - Newcastle
Kyle Walker - Man City
Adam Smith - Bournmouth
Kyle Naughton - Swansea
Younes Kaboul - Watford
Kevin Winmer - Stoke
Charlie Daniels - Bournmouth

Midfielders:

Aaron Lennon - Everton
Wayne Routledge - Swansea
Dean Marney - Burnley
Etienne Capoue - Watford
Michael Carrick - Man Utd
Tom Huddlestone - Hull
Jake Livermore - WBA
Gylfi Sigurdsson - Everton
Andros Townsend - Crystal Palace
Nacer Chadli - WBA
Tom Carroll - Swansea

Strikers:

Jermain Defoe - Sunderland
Peter Crouch - Stoke

It's noteable that 8 of those came through our youth system (7 if you consider that Kightly was discarded as a schoolboy at 16) and a further 7 as young English talents who had yet to make a real top flight impact. Also, only Carrick left us by choice, the rest just became obsolete at we improved, still good enough for this league, just not for Spurs. That goes to show quite how much we've improved as a club since being a mid table side packed with mediocrities and the odd flair player to justify the ticket prices.

Only really Robinson (old back up) and Fryers (just not particularly good) are unlikely to play regularly. The rest are still important within their squads and will have some impact this season.

Defoe is a Cherry now ;)
