Former Tottenham striker Terry Dixon hopes to see action for West Ham United next season.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international joined the Hammers on a three-year contract in February after battling back from a long-term knee injury.

"It's just a case of getting fit for pre-season, which is why I'm in early," explained Dixon to whufc.com. "Hopefully, come next month I'll be ready because I haven't played football in ages and I just want to start playing again. Whenever I train I feel normal so I just need to work on my fitness now.

"Stijn (Vandenbroucke) from West Ham came with me to Belgium. He is from Belgium so I underwent some procedures with Dr Martens and then I did a week of rehab with Stijn. I then went on holiday to Bulgaria but I had a fitness programme to follow while I was over there.

"Touch wood, I'm physically right now and I'm back in to work on getting my muscles physically strong and then I'll start running when the boys come back in. I will be ready for the start of the new season."

Happy for the lad and hope he does well.... Just wish he was still in a spurs shirt and we hadnt been so eager to dump him off.

ill be gutted if he makes it with the spammers but good luck to him for battling back.

I thought he had quit football altogether, well good luck to the boy.

My sentiments exactly, good luck to the lad, hope to see him in the green of Ireland if all goes well.

Great news, I hope he does well.

Agreed he had a fantastic reputation as Spurs... why the hell did we dump if he's well enough to return

"I underwent some procedures with Dr Martens"

What procedures involve the wearing of Dr Marten boots?
  8. animal
He'll be wearing Doc Martens boots with studs when playing. Their 'air wear' technology relieves pressure on his knees.

Practicing Toe Punts. Nevermind Adidas Predators, if you want the ball to do something then give it a welly wearing some vintage Dr Martens.

I'll never forget your goal for me in the CL final against Real Madrid on FM 07!

    Terry Dixon 4eva.

Wait until he starts playing competitively to judge eh?

he dislocated his knee seriously, we then nurtured him for many months until he was fit to play again...he then did the same thing again and hasn't played since.

Our medical team judged that his knee would not be able to cut it playing football at this level.

and as i remember it, he mouthed off rather bitterly about us when we released him.

i hope its the ox-blood ones, i like them and it'l set of the clarret nicely
  16. beals
Didn't know that, but I suppose the lad was gutted.
  17. Chedozie

    He did.

If Dixon makes it the responsible physio who decided the lad was not of any use should find himself another job.
  19. Kendall
    Oh ffs.

Like every lad who's ever been released by a club?

We couldn't stand by him another 2 years in the hope that his knee would be ok, at that age 2 dislocations often means you ain't gonna make it and if he does it will be a fluke imo.
