I think we are in the same postion as we are during the Redknapp era. I see the same situation at play which is why I want us to avoid the same outcome.

During HR's time, we were dependent very much on Bale & Modric and maybe a little less so on the, by then, declining King.

Our current squad is not just based on a few individuals though. When Kane was out , Alli, Son & Eriksen popped up with the goals.

When Rose & Walker were out, we had Davies & Trippier as sufficient cover. When Verts or Toby was out, Dier slotted smoothly in that position.

We have had several long term injuries to important players thus season.

Obviously I disagree with the sentiment but I also disagree with it being a weak trophy. In the last 21 years Arsenal, Chelsea and Manu have been the only winners. The exception being Portsmouth and Wigan. Liverpool won it the year they won three cups in a year too. So for 17 years it's been those three. They do take it seriously or they wouldn't be winning it so often.

You can only win so many cups or titles in a season. They are all worth winning.

Sadly a whole generation has been brainwashed by Sky relentlessly plugging their product as the only show in town. It's really not.

And whilst I love the idea of the champions league I'd rather something tangible and something that's realistically within our grasp. Poch seemed to have got that this season and we had a nice run in to the semis. Shame he played Son at lb or we could have been lifting that trophy today. I remember the last time it happened.

It felt good, it felt really good. It felt better than finishing second.

You forgot to mention that it is not just the top teams that play weakened teams in the 2 competitions. The teams they play against also choose shadow teams. All it shows is that the top teams have stronger second string players than the others. It's not surprising at all that those teams keep winning it. Great if our back up players can take us to the semis like this year but the very fact that all the teams in the Champions League play their strongest players in that competition and in the League but not in the League cup or FA Cup or the Europa League until the very final stages shows where the priorities are in today's game.

We are laughing about finishing 11 points ahead of them in our best season for years and looking forward to the group stages in the Champions League, compared to their humiliating League performances, 5 th place and an FA Cup win that gets them into the same Europa League that their 5th place already gave them . We are laughing about having younger, better players , united as a group and our fans are not split down the middle about whether our manager should be fired and panicking about whether the only player that would get into our team will leave , because he will only stay for money that they don't want to pay, if he stays at all. . They need at least 6 or 7 new players willing to play in the Europa we maybe need two to join our exciting project.

I don't think we need to worry about their consolation prize. The future of Noth London is white not red.
