From the BBC...If Spurs can beat Cardiff they have the prize of a home tie against Southend or Barnsley.

Nottingham Forest's reward for beating Charlton in the FA Cup has earned them a fourth round tie against Chelsea.
The League Two side will visit the Premiership champions in one of the more enticing games which also see Arsenal entertain Bolton.

Manchester United will host Portsmouth and Watford will visit West Ham in other all-Premieship draws. Giant-killers Swansea knocked out Sheffield United and will face either Chester City of Ipswich.

To be fair we should beat Cardiff at home, then either Southend or Barnsley.
    Last 16 here we come!!

That is a very good draw indeed. I'm quite confident of us beating Cardiff at the Lane and then Southend or Barnsley will provide us a reasonably easy way to the fifth round.

Another good thing about the draw is that there are several all Premiership ties (Arsenal-Bolton, West Ham-Watford, ManU-Portsmouth and possibly Newcastle-Reading). At the most, there will be 9 other premiership teams in the fifth round. At least half of Premiership teams are already eliminated at that point, including half the teams currently in the top 6. (Liverpool, either Arsenal or Bolton and either ManU or Portsmouth).

    Couldn't ask for more!

But can we really sustain challenges in all 3 cups and the league?

With a squad our size we should be able to, and to be honest its high time we had a couple (3???) of really good cup runs.

Here's to the Spurs cup treble winning side of 2007!

nice one BUT let's not be too cocky about Cardiff

    Agreed.

One thing more, our main rivals for European qualification at the moment are Bolton, Portsmouth and Everton. Toffees are already out and Bolton and Pompey have both been handed a very tough draw indeed. I know that we have reasonable depth in the squad, but considering that our main rivals propably have no cup matches left at all, since none of the three are in Europe or League Cup either, it will be very difficult indeed to defend our fifth place in the League. I know that we have still all to play for behind the top 2, but I'm being realistic here. Fifth in the League and 1-2 (at least) semifinal places in the cups would be an excellent season for me.

Very nice draw, but i'm not getting too carried away still got to get past Cardiff first!

What can i say, i'm an optimist !(thought that was a pre-requisite for us Spurs fans!)

lineker thinks we'll win it this year and so do I.
  11. paulspursman
we should win both quite easily but should is the important word

A very good draw. With either Arsen*l or Bolton out it could only have been better if Man U and Chelsea had been drawn together as well. Having said that Pompey are quite good as well, so it couldn't really have been much better. Ironic if Southend have to come to the Lane once again, but I fancy Barnsley to beat them to it.
There is no need to get cocky though. We have frequently struggled to beat Championship sides at the Lane...

I really hope we do overcome Cardiff and then finish of Southend (without going to a replay, please). But I must admit, playing lower league teams is a bit of a struggle for our boys ! The beauty of the FA Cup !
  14. Ali
Actually that is very tough draw for Man U. Portsmouth will be a tough nut to crack. Although I am kind of hoping that if we don't get to the final ourselves, that the finalists are both top 5 teams to ensure that the 7th placed team gets into Europe - as I suspect that will be us.
  15. markspurs
Lets not under estimate cardiff as we still have to get past them before either southend or barnsley come to us . I want us to get barnsley beacuse we have already had southend this year it would be nice to get somone different from the lower leagues
  16. Boaman

Let not underestimate ourselves either, we have a cracking home record and I expect nothing more than a win
  17. markspurs
Yeah i agree boaman but anything can happen in football.

Well lets make sure that with all these BMJ has no option but to utilise the squad and prioritise which is the most important too spurs, any of the cups or the league. So when he doesnt play our full strength team every game, lets get off his back
