There are threads on this, already.

Correction, your heading should read: "SOME fans say no...", surely:shrug:

....or that over 93% of Spurs fans would follow the team to Stratford if the decision was made to relocate, according to this web site's poll.

Also, the article claims that the distance between WHL and the OS is "10 miles", when infact it's little over half of that. Picky maybe but quite important imo.

Surely this article can only used the words 'fans' as a collective, if the majority of each clubs support holds that opinion which in this case is almost certainly not true

How many of the 93% would actually go though?
There are a good few members on this site that may have voted from overseas and a hell of a lot that live here and don't go to the games. Not a pop at anyone by the way.

How many people voted in that poll, Andy?

277 people so far

Poll was done on COYS as well, same thing (but they have a multi poll with different questions as well, we cant on here and i was lazy and 1 poll was enough...)

They also split it to season ticket holders and non season ticket holders. Their results:

Season Ticket Holders:
Happily support the team in its new home (91 votes [47.89%])
Grudgingly follow the team to its new home (68 votes [35.79%])
Only attend away games (15 votes [7.89%])
Choose another club to be my primary team in England (3 votes [1.58%])
Give up on English club football (and perhaps on football entirely) (13 votes [6.84%])

Non season ticket holders:
Happily support the team in its new home (277 votes [59.96%])
Grudgingly follow the team to its new home (148 votes [32.03%])
Only attend away games (11 votes [2.38%])
Choose another club to be my primary team in England (3 votes [0.65%])
Give up on English club football (and perhaps on football entirely) (23 votes [4.98%])

does it matter? are all spurs fans not equal? or do the ones that make the games more only get a say?

Well, yes really, as it affects them more than the armchair fan who thinks it's wonderful to move to the other side of London forgetting the heritage of THFC.

still their club as much as yours.
Also those 'armchair fans' might go to the game if we had a new stadium at the OS.
And im sure that we all know the history of the club. Going to the Lane every week doesn't give you more knowledge on that.

I never said that. Armchair fans could go to the new WHL just the same

I agree that every fan should have their say, but if a season ticket holder decides not to go to Stratford, it will have more of an effect than if someone who goes to one game a year decides not to.

If only that were true. If we move I'll give up my ST but there are a good few who would take it up, of that I'm sure.

Thats true. But i know a lot of people that have said they are waiting for a season ticket where ever the new stadium is going to be. While I dont want us to lose any fans, the potential season ticket holders and the fans that turn up to alot, some or only a few games that didn't before that will be making a big impact as well.

Notwithstanding an obvious fact that the Club will win new fanbase because of geographics and also the newsworthy factor, the novelty factor and, who is not going to bet on..the Beckham factor...?

Would you really though? A genuine question because I have no doubt that you are a lifelong Spurs fan who is in a privileged position to hold a season ticket.

With due respect Chris, and not to disrespect your work here, I really wouldn't class forums as being reflective of the Spurs community who actually attend games now, and there various reasons for that, none more so than the fact that a large % of posters on forums are either armchair fans, live abroad or would be unable to attend games for one reason or another and as a means of keeping touch with news and debates on the club (I'm not being detrimental here, they are all Spurs fans, but nevertheless they are not all regular attendees or perhaps even irregular attendees).

The Trust held a poll of its members, and I would suggest that whilst not an exact science, it perhaps may well be more indicative of likely figures, and maybe more reflective of the Spurs fan base?.

I believe the Trust has somewhere in the region of 3000 plus members, maybe not all regular attendees but I'd say a far higher proportion are.

Their results are starkly different based on two simple questions.

2 to 1 were against moving with a fifth undecided.

The second question, perhaps more pertinent in relation to what you raised, was that 2 to 1 would still go to Stratford...that would indicate that at most, 33% would not go.

For sure, what people say now, and what they would actually do when push comes to shove is a different matter, but I would say that at the very least, opposition is far stronger than what your poll would otherwise indicate.

As I said, not trying to undermine your efforts here and I hope you dont take offence in my drawing attention to another poll, nor how I view that poll.

The Trust subsequently issued a press release, which I post here
