PSV Eindhoven striker Jefferson Farfan says he has rejected offers from Tottenham and Fiorentina to move to the Bundesliga with Schalke.
The 23-year-old is set to become new Fred Rutten's first big name signing since leaving Dutch side FC Twente to take over at the Veltins Arena.
Farfan told Peru: "I accepted the offer (from Schalke) because I wanted to play in a more competitive league.
"I had offers from other clubs. There was an offer from Tottenham in England, another from Fiorentina in Italy and one more from a Russian club."
The Peruvian hitman will reportedly cost Schalke 10million euros, making him the most expensive signing in the club's history.
He added: "What I decided with PSV was to look for a competitive team and obviously in a league which was a level above Dutch football, and for sporting reasons we accepted the offer from Schalke 04.
"I want to begin a new era in my life. With PSV I won four championships, I was the club's top-scorer, I always had the support of my team-mates and the fans.
"It went well for me in Holland and I think that it was about time to leave and look for new horizons."
Schalke have yet to officially confirm the deal.
Tosser. He was really good against us in the Wafer cup. Not sure where we'd have played him though.
