Never been convinced by him. However, if Poch believes he worth a punt then I'm happy to believe he the best defender at WHL.

Messi or Aguero next please

I have to say though looking at those gifs (not seen him at all otherwise) those La Liga guys seem to collapse just when he looks at them. He might be well suited to the Premier League - except for Sterling and Aguero, he should be able to do ok. Decent buy for a net 2 million. But standing ovation to Daws though for what he gave us.

Sweet. Be interesting to see him play. Very different type of CB to Musacchio. Fazio is to Musacchio like what Dembele is to Moutinho (if that makes sense). All I know, he's no Michael Dawson!

Maybe in terms of the transfer dealings, then yes, but that's a bit harsh on Fazio without seeing him play for us. Sure, Musacchio might have been the #1 target, but I'm sure Poch will have helped pick out Fazio himself (with a bit of Levy's sell clause expertise too :D). And he's no Dawson alright - I loved the man but Rico over here is just much better at reading the play, winning headers and is quicker on the turn.

Ill trust in Poch's judgement on this one. Like the Bleacher report points out: he turned Lovren into a decent defender, so no reason he can't do it with this chap.

Also, looks like we have a ryan shawcross type but with some Latin American tekkers.

Welcome Faz.

I knew very little about him other than his dating profile (height weight) and his love of Diego Ruffalo Costa.

My friend texted me this link which was quite a nice piece:

Bleacher Report: Federico Fazio

Sorry if already posted.
honest to god, this is one of the most ridiculous things i've ever seen. you could put together something like this for any player.

Really? I found it to be quite informative. It put forward both pros and cons and used some cases or stats as evidence to back up each one.

I thought this was better than a YouTube clip glueing together a player's best bits (as done by "Scout Nation" etc) which is far less informative.

You could put together something like this for any player. And they have for Fazio, who's signing for us and with little else to go by I think gives us some basis upon which to understand what sort of a player he is.

Obviously we hope he does not have the concentration levels of Titus Bramble.

Agreed. people who are being spooked by the compilation of GIFs are the fans who interpret all football as a compendium of conspicuous individual errors and never observe the minute-by-minute team interplay that makes up an actual football match. They tend to be the same people who worked themselves into a lather about Dawson and Gomes.

I find the player weight stats quoted amazing. Can Vlad and Kaboul really be the same weight and Jan like 25 lbs heavier than them both ? To me, Younes appears the stockiest and similar to Jan, with Vlad lighter than both. I think the Report said Fazio is lighter than Jan too ? I know Jan is a big unit but didn't realise he ate all of Andy Reid's pies !

Agreed... Followed up with stats he's been sent off only 4 times in 7 years(202 apps). However I will say Ledley was never sent off
