I haven't actually watched a game with him in yet. He any good?

He's not a quick guy, but he does the simple things well and looks composed. A beast in the air and reads the game well.
Think he fits well with Vertonghen.

I'm struck by the number of posts asserting that Fazio is slow. He simply isn't. He's not Aaron Lennon, but he is remarkably quick once he gets those legs going and his acceleration is also pretty good for a guy who's 6'-5".

It's not once I've noted this, it's 10 or more times over his various performances for us. For instance, he hasn't been outpaced by attackers making runs up the channels, he sticks with them, as long as he can see them coming and get goal-side of them, at which point he shepherds them toward the touch-line. He's very good at it and it's one of the best sides of his game. You can't do that if you're slow. He's not.

My main concern about Fazio is that he has been unable to get through 90 minutes without making at least one, often two really bad mental errors. For his first 3 (I think) appearances, he got away with it, but it cost us a goal and then he got sent off.

This might be part of the 'getting used to English football' process, but it isn't about the frantic pace of the game, its about concentration and judgment, so it's something the coaches should be working on. I recall people who were familiar with his performances in Spain advising that he 'always has an error in him' around the time we were trying to sign him.

This has to bode well for his future chances at starting. I doubt he gets called in to the national team unless Poch puts in a good word for him.
