Harry Redknapp will launch a £12million bid for the Spanish Peter Crouch. The Spurs boss has lined up giant Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente to replace Roman Pavyluchenko.

Llorente stands at 6ft 4in and is seen as the perfect target man by Redknapp as he looks to off-load the Russian flop.

The 24-year-old Llorente has been in outstanding form for Bilbao in La Liga and was part of Spain's Confederations Cup squad last month.

He has made it clear he would relish a move to the Premier League and, after talks with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, Redknapp will make his move.

Llorente is certainly a cheaper option than either Crouch or Real Madrid's Klass Jan Huntelaar, another factor that appeals to Levy.

Not seen too much of him but from what i have seen he can play and looks good for a big guy :)
And if we snap him up for that price .....that will be a good buy.
Lets just hope man c don't fancy another striker :p

    Russian flop-leave it out.

Pav has not been a flop - what is going on here!! We will regret if we don't give him another season to adapt, particularly after a summers break this time
  4. vuzp
give Pav another season and we can see what he can do,
last season was not all that bad for his first to adapt,
who is not to say llorente comes in and can not adapt and pav goes and plays
    a super season somewhere else.

    Russian flop - pathetic reference.

5 league goals and way too many piss poor performances makes him a flop in my eyes ....... the question is wether if given another season he will improve. HR and DL are probably thinking if he flops again we are even more unlikely to get any return on him so sell him now.

If it wasn't for this flop we wouldn't have been in the CC final. Consider this and change your paradigm. I think HR and DL are more grateful than some fans.

I think Llorente would be a pretty decent signing. He is a handful, certainly bringing a physical presence that Pav sometimes struggles to bring. His finishing seems pretty good, and wasnt there a snippet in the transfer rumour forum (or general football) about Bilbao signing a striker, indicating someone was leaving?

I would keep Pav for six months (assuming Bent is offski) as he has shown glimpses of coming good, and if we did try to offload now I dont think we would get a great price.

From all the reports it seems more likely that Llorente would be to replace Bent, not Pavlyuchenko. Bent is the one who apparently is disillusioned and wants to go and Bent is the one Sunderland are willing to buy.

Personally I am happy with out current strike force, assuming Keane gets back to his best, we have four decent players who can all score goals. If we learn to play to all their strengths it shouldn't matter which of them plays as we will get goals.

I'd like to see more of the Pav/Defoe partnership which seemed to get off to a promising start until injuries spoiled it.

would still consider it a flop if you take his league performances into account. he is clearly struggling against most teams and doesnt even look like he wants to adjust to the PL.
surely we didnt pay over £13m for someone to score against Burnley in the Carling Cup? I dont think we have that much money!

If someone offers decent money for Pav I think HR will sell.
I think he has reservations about the physical side of his game & if he can get his own choice of player in, he will do.
Whether it's this guy, who knows. Crouch wouldn't surprise me though.
