All a bit chicken and egg the striker thing isn't it. If we get genuine quality then we can rotate a bit more. Because Jansen and Llorente have struggled they have rarely started and prospective better signings are scared off. Morata, supposedly, for example, though we might have dodged a bullet there and now Batshit. Amazing to think we had 4 good strikers a few years back and were only in the Europa regularly !
2 key differences. 1) we played two up top. 2) none was as good as Kane.

To give this extra context, last season in 30 games Kane scored 29 league goals. In 2008 Berbatov and Keane scores a combined 30 league goals, playing 36 league games each as our first choice pairing. Defoe and Bent scored another 10 between them in 19 and 27 league games respectively.

As posted in general chat..

I'm a little disappointed in the news - but some younger players that fit the bill for his replacement that haven't been mentioned:

-Lucas Alario (young, argentinian, doing really well in the bundesliga)
-Sebastein Haller (young, french (we got a lot of those now), strong as an ox, goal scorer)
-Niclas Fullkrug
-Michael Gregoritsch (tall and can play on the wing and striker)
-Maximilian Philipp (see above but I dont think he's leaving)

Yes... all these guys play in the bundesliga... excluded Werner. I put this with the thought in mind regarding Herc's itk. Haller or Alario seem to fit Poch's bill in both size and skill.
Alario only joined Leverkeusen in the summer.

Much more likely to be Arp. Which I'm not that sure about.

anyine get the feeling conte doesn't really want giroud and might be trying to push for llorente still, maybe even trying to convince/push batshuayi to change his mind

Considering the strikers Chelsea have been linked with during this window, the only feeling I've been getting is one of great amusement .

I really hope we sell him, because we'll be forced to use someone else as a back up, and it's impossible that whoever that is will be worse. Stick a youth team player in, at least he'll run around, which is more than Llorente has done.

@tiger666 why is this funny? You rate posts like an absolute oddball sometimes

TBH it is funny how much of a negative outlook some people can have on the world.

It's literally just a few transfers that have happened and the poster has somehow turned it into something negative about spurs, even though we've got our main target for the window

So we're possibly getting shot of yet another Levytime striker we got for another one? This bodes well!

Shouldn't have signed him in the fucking first place IMO.

Cant see this happening, wasnt one of the reasons we didn’t sign Bats in the first place was because he was demanding some ludicrous wage?

What could have changed now to allow us to even consider this?

There is zero chance of us signing Batshuayi. He would sit on the bench for most of the time and then miss the world cup. He can do that at Chelsea. He'll move to get games and make the world cup.

Bats would be a wrong move if its a loan. Fuck that it's weird a chelsea player would come on loan to us. Only if permanent.

'Yeah I know' :p But clearly we thought it more important to have quality backup. We have really been in trouble when Kane has been injured as we don't have the quality or match fitness or both

The best solution is to find a player that can play as a striker and maybe a winger/no.10 role a la Son/ Firmino so he can fill in for others as well as Kane and get more game time. But this is obviously easier said than done. Any suggestions anyone?
