Easily the best team in the tournament. US deserved the trophy. The Dutch hardly had a kick. England gave the US their toughest game in the end.

Deserved winners imo. If England had a better defence they may have given them more of a run for their money the other night, but the US defence seems pretty much watertight. Very had to beat a team if you can’t score against them.

Quite pleased for Rapino too.

I'm not sure what you mean. The Dutch players boot was literally in Morgan's stomach. It was a clear foul.
You make it sound like GBH. She lifted her foot up, it was a penalty, but it was hardly a "boot to the stomach". Calm your tits.

The contact was made after the US girl had knocked the ball out of play. I'm not saying that contact wasn't made but it didn't alter the play. It was a goal kick the ref gave a corner then gave a penalty on advice of some jobsworth in a studio. This is why VAR is becoming the a terrible idea, allow the ref to control the game unless he / she asks for help.

So remember when the people earlier in the thread we're arguing that the US will stop being so good in women's soccer in the future? I wonder if they still think that.
Hope Solo said as much herself. The US focus solely on the national team and have a very poor league and infrastructure. She believes that the way England are going about it that we will soon surpass them.

Disagree about England, thought France were much better, made the US look very beatable but managed to screw up every chance they created.

No, its just your interpretation of what I've said. I don't even think it was an intentional foul. Rewatch it, her boot was actually at shoulder height and got the upper arm, rather than the stomach.

The US girl was bracing for the contact, protecting herself, while the play was going on. Studs that high in the penalty area, contact with the player, none with the ball. May have looked soft, but it was a penalty.

Yeah I know. You're the one who said it was a boot to the stomach FFS. I said it was a foul, but you shouldn't over-dramatise it.

I won't bother engaging next time. :ROFLMAO:

Wrong. The penalty was given for dangerous play (high boot, contact with studs to Morgan’s torso) and the foul occurred in the box while the ball was in play. Dutch player missed the ball. Clear penalty.
