Martin Jol was delighted to see us put together back-to-back wins in the Barclays Premiership after Saturday's five-star display against Charlton.

    Source: Official Site

The 5-1 success made it nine straight home wins in all competitions including six in the league in a run of just two defeats in 17 matches, again in all competitions.

After a slow start, we burst into a 2-0 lead with quickfire goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Teemu Tainio before Michael Dawson diverted Andy Reid's cross into his own net for 2-1 at the interval.

Steed Malbranque volleyed home the crucial third goal after 55 minutes in another goal-den spell of three goals in 11 minutes with further strikes from Jermain Defoe and Berbatov taking out out of sight.

"Everyone was devastated after the Arsenal game," reflected Martin at the Lane. "We had to prove a point against Middlesbrough, we did that and although 2-1 wasn't a great margin, we should have won by more.

"But if we'd had a bad result against Charlton it would have meant nothing.

"Charlton is a derby game and you know they had some confidence after beating Blackburn.

"They started well, played with two up front and one in the hole and that gave us a bit of a problem, but after 20 minutes we changed a few things and that meant we could overload them at the back and create more.

"We switched Aaron Lennon to behind our strikers to match them up, we looked dangerous and it was good to see the midfielders on the scoresheet.

"I feel we are more consistent than people give us credit for - in the last 17 matches we've had two defeats but they were hugely disappointing against Reading and Arsenal. Still, I think every other team besides the top two would be satisfied with those results."

we been promisin to do this for sometime but we were still pretty crap for first 25 mins the goals brought the confidence lets see now if we can do it away against citeh.

after keeping 100% record in europe

i had to happen sooner or later. lets hope we can get a bit of consistancy now

The team against Bucharest should be a more laid back team IMO.

Rest King, Chimbonda, Berbatov and maybe put Ghaly, Mido, Davids and Stalteri in for a run.

Great result i posted after the ars game that we should play a more attacking formation cause i reckon we should do the things we are good at and not go and try to fight teams in midfield.i also said lennon should be given a free role and some of you had a good giggle but the fact is when teams double up on him on the right it is diffcult for him to find space.however if he has a free role he can still pull out wide but can also come inside and thread through balls like our first goal and defoes goal.game on thurs has to be won cause we want to finish top of the group so i would go with the same team might rest king cause i know hes having a problem with his knee.i would play chimb cb with stalteri-ekotto with lee.if we are winning make some early subs i.e. lennon berb and hud.

No, we did play crap in the first 25 mins 'littlemandefoe'. It was terrible until we scored. In fact I doubt if anyone was that confident in our abilities until we made it 3-1. After that we could have scored 6 or 7 easily!

does anyone know the chant that was sang that started...'we can see you, we can see you we can see you 'something'

The question, "Why is there such a disparity between our home and away form", now becomes much more pertinent!

This was an excellent result rather than a great performance... it was simply job done (with style)... shows that we are the 4th/5th best team in England. Lennon was superb along with Defoe and Berbs! With our attacking options we are a match for any side.

    "Sneaking out" usually

Which would make sense....if any of them actually bothered to show up in the first place! Awful. They have given it away. Championship for them next season.

Lennon moving centrally was, quite simply, a revelation yesterday. They simply could not mark him and it was like having two wingers at times, as he zipped from side to side to collect the ball on either flank or centrally where necessary.

But the real key to his play was the way he used his pace to pressure their back four and midfield high up the pitch. They couldn't settle and turned the ball over time and again - leading directly to at least two of our goals and handing us back posession time and again.

With Malbranque doing something similar (although to slightly less effect) we were great defensively and hard to mark.

Let's try it more often, even away from home! COYS.

I'm sure MJ would love to but the reality of the situation says he can't. Dinamo will be a tough nut to crack and it's imperative we finish top of the group to gain an easier game (on paper anyway) in the next round.

Exactly. Let this be an answer to all those posting that we should rest our top players on Thursday since we've qualified already anyway. We need to be top, and that means we have to win.

i think jol has already intimated this by suggesting that the tottenham faithful want to be entertained for their money, and thus will not be putting out the 2nd string. saying that, i imagine that he could give mido a game to try and get him fitter........he looks like he could really do with it
