That is the claim of Spanish outlet Marca.
They say the Gunners have “asked about” a move for the 26-year-old.

But Arsene Wenger could face Premier League competition in the hunt for his signature with Tottenham and newly-promoted Newcastle also said to have done the same.

Apparently came from Man city to Eibar, never heard of him though.

Both Tottenham and Arsenal have also registered some interest in the 26-year-0ld but Rafa Benitez is expected to complete the deal by paying the entirety of the transfer fee to Eibar in one lump sum, rather than set up a payment instalment plan.
Newcastle have reportedly refocused their attention on Lejeune and are eager to push through a deal after losing out on Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Semedo who signed for Villarreal on Wednesday.

Whenever I see an article linking a player with the stipulation of "Tottenham are also interested" I take that as media click bait to get the team really linked worried. Also it doesn't really fit our mo to sign 26 year old players that aren't well known. By this point they will either be highly rated or not expected to mature further. Could understand with an up to 23 year old but not so much like this.

Players like Toby were highly rated but had a rough move to Athletico, Jan was well established, Lloris one of the best keepers in the world most other signings are young.

I agree. I think that CBs can be older though as 26 isn't too shabby. I'm not sure that signing players from Eibar would take us forward though,.. Anyway, I find these links interesting (more interesting than Adam Smith).

I agree 26 isn't old and would provide an established mature player. It just doesn't fit what we do. I don't think we will sign Adam Smith. He's a tidy player but he's probably peaked and is below our level.

Pooh pooh

Would like him in the club. Strong and aggressive (you can saw his attack on honey on youtube) , definitely fit england football, good relationship with his team-mates, more importantly, he has high commercial value around the world, a perfect Levy buy

Pooh-Wanyama midfield would be terrifying
