I'm thinking of betting a bit on football matches, so was wondering if anyone here does it and if they have any tips on what to bet on etc...?

My first bet was for last weekend where I had a accumalator for Liverpool to beat Bolton, Tottenham to beat Birmingham and City to beat Portsmouth. Not the greatest odds but quite a safe bet, £6 on it, got £9.05 back!

You've got the idea so far then. Try pick all the bankers. Usually if you get 6/7 teams you'll get fairly decent odds.

Someone posted this site, which is good for checking form of teams, etc.

Only bet what you can afford to lose though.

Cheers, I'll bookmark that page.

I only bet when I really think about it, I never just go and randomly decide to bet on anything!

Think a good few do it most weeks, as do I. I've been screwed by one team each of the last three weeks. Notts County screwed me out of about 300 quid last weekend. :bang:

Get yourself into the Acca comp as well. Bitta fun for vCash. :)

I’ve just given up gambling. My childhood was pretty much marred by my dads gambling so I never thought I would do it but during the pandemic I got a very good offer from Ladbrokes, a special for NHS staff on the fake Grand National. I won £75 or something.
I kept the account open and dipped in occasionally. I then started to experiment- I have a theory that with electronic instant betting you can literally buy money with hundreds of low risk high stake bets - for instance a PL team are 20-1 on playing against a minnows in the cup so you bet £20 and they give you £1, almost guaranteed. It almost always works but takes attention, patience and discipline. I once turned a £1 free bet into £144 over a period of many weeks. By that time I was thoroughly bored with it and the wife was getting annoyed at my lack of attention towards her! So I transferred £100 of it to my grandchildren and had a takeaway on it, then the account lay dormant for months.
I‘ve had a bit of illness, got bored with doing not a lot, so went back to phone betting recently and had a bit of fun. Only rule is never to bet on Spurs except for the rule that i wouldn’t bet a lot of money.
Anyway yesterday I was watching TV, got bored with the dancing or whatever it was and started to look for a good bet. I go to the in-play football matches generally. I found a French match that was 2-2 in the 95th minute and the draw was showing as 14-1! A certain mistake by Ladbrokes, a rare anomaly. The seconds went by and the odds stayed the same so I stuck a quid on it. The game finished at 2-2 according to the app but they showed it as a lost bet in the settled bets section. Long story short is that they had made a mistake, something had happened and the result was actually 2-1. They were pretty snotty about it and didn’t even offer my quid back. Their own rules say that settled bets are the final decision I believe. That’s it for me, I’m not dealing with bookies ever again - you eventually always lose in my experience.

If you're not gubbed by them, you should switch to bet365. They have a 2 up offer that would have landed that bet for you. It's saved me many times. Paddy does the same offer but their odds are shit.

My hard luck story of the weekend may be that if Spurs win tonight, Real Madrid will have let me down for €500. Serial acca busters they are.
