I went off topic in the last few days in the MOTD thread when I mentioned Charles Buchan.

Apologies to all.

It was when I mentioned Charles Buchan and the football magazines available in my childhood.

I have just looked on ebay and there are almost 1000 listings for these old items.

There followed 'Shoot' 'Match' and many others down the years.

I was a ‘Shoot!’ lad myself. Not so much with the annuals but I devoured the magazine every week. Until I discovered Fiesta and Razzle. I was still a ‘Shoot!’ kinda guy but it was just a bit different.

I can't remember the name of it now, World Soccer I think. Back in the 80's it was pretty much the only way you knew what was going on in Europe and the rest of the world and packed with interesting articles.

EDIT: oooh I just seen its still going

I bought match for the season tracker.

Used to be a massive part of preseason getting all the little tabs so you can have your own league table.

I remember Billy's Boots. Every issue seemed to involve him losing his boots on the back of a milk truck.

League Ladders we’re brilliant. The amount of my childhood spent updating those. Clicking on a link to see the league table? Kids today don’t know they’re born! :pompous:

Too right mate, Sunday afternoons were watching the match on ITV, go up to the bedroom and update the league ladders and then tape the songs off Bruno Brooks top 40.

Match (or Shoot) still do the league ladders. I managed to get one at the start of this season, but I missed the following weeks edition with the final set of teams in it.
