Reds looking to strengthen in all areas.

Nottingham Forest will look to sign seven of last season's loan stars on permanent deals, according to reports.

The Reds relied heavily on short-term deals during the 2008/09 campaign as they battled against relegation from the Championship.

Having successfully beaten the drop, the club are now plotting to push on next term.

Billy Davies is keen to strengthen all areas of his squad and feels those players that came in to help out last season would prove to be useful additions.

Talks will now be held with Liverpool and Aston Villa regarding the future of Paul Anderson and Isaiah Osbourne, while Forest will also look to take Chris Gunter from Tottenham.

Their pursuit of Queens Park Rangers striker Dexter Blackstock is ongoing and Joel Lynch will also be sounded out about a potential switch from Brighton.

An audacious approach for Birmingham forward Gary McSheffrey has been touted, while Davies will look to bring in goalkeeper cover in the form of either Derby's Lee Camp or Everton's Iain Turner.

No way, a season long loan will do him good and will benefit us too in the long term. Gunter has potential to be a very good defender and we should look at keeping our best youngsters.

we should keep gunter, he's been pretty solid for us defensively and is still quite young :)

Agree with this. Given his age I thought he played well when given the chance and definately one to keepthough obviously not the finished article defensively.

Only my opinion, but I would let him leave, presuming we get more than we paid for him. Realistically is he ever going to get in in front of Hutton or Charlie? Even if Charlie moves to CB at some point (which I'm not convinced by, and would prefer dawson there), he still has to displace Hutton.

I think the lad has a bright future, but wouldn't want us to hamper it. At the very least he deserves a season long loan somewhere. The odd game here and there for us is not helping him progress.

Stalteri and Kelly were better ... let him go, he's good enough for Forest, not for Spurs

Let him go on loan by all means but to sell him now would be silly. I think he cost us £1.5mil? I can't see us making any profit on that if we sold him now, whereas if he has a successful loan season we could probably get £3mil or, if we chose not to sell, he would get the experience he clearly needs. With Chimbo in the sqaud, and Zokora capable at RB, we really don't need him at the moment.

i like gunter and i'd like him to do well.

sadly, though, i don't think he's good enough for where we want to be. with the right-backs we have, i can't see him getting a game. and by the time he's experienced enough for first team EPL i'd want us to be too good for him to get in the team.

we'll get more than we paid for him, i expect. and if we do, i'd sell.

i'd be very happy to be proven wrong, mind.

My thoughts also. Not in a bad way, off course. He just short of the grade requirements.

think he can be a really good RB. think we should keep him and loan him out again

Yep that gets my vote too. Preferably to a promoted PL team so his development can really continue and we get to keep a close eye on his progress.

    keep him, very good potential

Long term his position looks to be CB, according to himself and the wales set up, I would like to see him go out on loan again as someone who can cover RB/CB/LB would cost us a lot of money. Let him learn his trade elsewhere and then come back and become cover and see what he's capable of.
