Hello,

Hope you're all well.

With Javier Hernandez moving to West Ham we've taken a look at four players Spurs could now sign up as back-up for Harry Kane.

Thought has been put into these suggestions.

Four back-ups to Kane

Cheers,

Sam

Last two are from Northern Italian clubs... not particularly well known, ITK cracked???

Edit: misread Zapata as being at Torino.

Andrea Petagna seems the most likely out of that four - good age and would be happy to play back up...

...I've never heard of him though!

edit...what he said ^^^^ :D

Oh, but you have!
I actually mentioned him in the big ITK Serie A player guessing game of 17th of July.
But that probably means fuck all.

I was really quite suprised by the first two names on this list considering how the introduction was worded. It was built up with Tottenham having a style and manner in transfer market then bam...llorente and bacca

Seeing the words "thought has been put into these suggestions" gave me the feeling Rob might have slipped them a name ;)?

Would be interesting if that was the case and one of the Italian based players was of actual interest! Like others said I'd give Janssen the chance to improve and prefer we spent it on a decent attacking forward like Schick (If he can pass a medical) or someone else with pace to burn.

What I like about Petagna is that he is really tall, but has a very good body control and a silky touch. Also his first touch can be really sublime. You can argue that in Serie A, you get more time to compose yourself, but IMO, some of his skills are so instant, they can translate to the pacy PL style.

Whaaaaat?!? No Leandro Damiao or Hulk? These rumours just get more boring by the minute...

Petagna looks good - can hold the ball up, great first touch, good vision and passing looks decent. Young too... and from northern Italy and playing in a team from northern Italy. :)

Keane Son Janssen is OK, it worked well last season. I believe we scored the most PL goals

I reckon we need an understudy / rotation for Eriksen/Lamela and we're good to go.

Barkley Mahrez Lemar or the German kid I can't think right now the name.

I'd actually be really happy with Llorente as a short term option, one or two seasons.

Proven striker who's shown he can cut it in the Premier League, won't be intimidated by big clubs in the Champions League and has a track record of playing for clubs who win stuff.

Would also take a little bit of pressure off both Kane and Janssen - Kane because he has a strong number two, and Janssen because it gives him a bit of breathing space to develop before being relied upon at the top level by us in a year or two.

Couldn't see Llorente wanting to play second fiddle to Kane, but then if he's considering moving to Chelsea perhaps he's not as put off by the prospect of not being first choice as you might expect.
