Dembele of Dortmund went for 16m or so reportedly? Well fuck me sideways but that is a hell of a better deal. I realize they play different positions (AM vs CM), but the naked eye test to me is just so bloody obvious it's frustrating to see prices like that being quoted.

We want to show intent for a young player then go for AC Milans young stud Manuel Locatelli. Watch the difference in intelligence between the two. Leaps and bounds better and will cost more but the product is better. Plenty more options out there too.

Locatelli looks good, but getting a player out of Milan is a whole different ball game. Dont forget we are not in the CL anymore either.

To think he is being touted at 20m+ and Gundogan went for 20 something.

I know, I know wages are what counts but the point is still valid. 20m for a youth prospect that hasn't shown he can cut it for longer than a half a year is crazy IMO. It would be different if he had the Dembele promise (the Dortmund Dembele) in the CM, but I just don't see it.

And people really need to look at all the CMs out there like our Dembele. He is unique, but he or players like him are notbeing chased after by the elite. He is a very handy player but we should not be looking to replace him with like for like. We need more brains in midfield.

We don't know if there's any truth in this or who's agenda it is putting it out there. Probably his club needs the money and is trying to start an auction.

With Dier likely to move back more consistently, I think we need a range of mids. There's room for another powerhouse as well as a deep lying playmaker. Dembele and Winks own the shirts at the mo but it remains to be seen whether Poch is convinced by either or both come next summer. If there's a deal to be done sooner he might surprise us, possibly with a loan back.

Sorry Im part Italian so get defensive about what I see as lazy swipes at Serie A.

Klassie's goal record is one in three in serie A right now. If he were to maintain that would score about 12 goals this season. Last season the top goalscoring Central Midfielder in the whole League was Pjanic with 11,pogba got 9. I dont see Winks out scoring every other midfielder. Particularly as Winks is stylisitically similar to many serie A midfielders.

Mind I don't see Kessie as maintaining these stats. Firstly because last season he got 4 goals after the whole of the season. Secondly almost all his goals came early in the season, suggesting this is more a purple patch rather than a serious indication of player capability. Though his stats, particularly for a team like atalanta, are remarkable.

Also Serie A in recent years has allowed very phisical players, such as Zaza, to look better than they are because player development has still largly been based on technical elements rather than phisical ones (though there are signs that this is begining to change) this suggesting he might be more suited for Serie A rahter than the PL or even the bundesliga for example.

I have watched Winks since a kid, and he has goals in him. In a less demanding physical league I believe he would have more goals to his game. His best position imho is CAM, playing Modric role. From what I have seen of Klassie I honestly don't go with the hype. Many will laugh but i believe Onomah is technically better, but physically not.
